Actually. Mine Forever is a pretty great summary of the entire album of Lonesome Dreams 🧍♀️🧍♀️ the Gun Thunder Is A Lonesome Dreams Adaptation Theory grows
(sleep deprived and not super coherent) analysis below!
IM COMING BACK TO THIS AFTER IT'S BEEN SITTING IN MY DRAFTS SINCE UHHH SEPTEMBER
ok so like. Mine Forever right.
let's go in LD order here
Ends of the Earth style stuff:
If you're ever gonna leave this place
Don't wait, it's time to go
If you really wanna stay, I'll go alone
Pretty obvious correlation (to me at least), the whole "come run away with me. no? byee" thing going on in EotE.
Time to Run:
Na-na, keep moving (4x)
I'm much too young to die
So long, good luck, goodbye
The MV for Time to Run is literally Huron n co trying to not get shot dkfjhsadkjsfdjk very much running, leaving, not dying idk
Lonesome Dreams: Nothing much in Mine Forever itself but the MV has Roy Casey running ALLLLL over the place
The Ghost on the Shore: not much, Mine Forever isn't really about hanging around, it's mostly about leaving fjahsfkjshdkjds
She Lit a Fire:
I know we will be together
In my mind, you're mine forever
Something something "she left no trail but i cannot fail i will find her"
I Will Be Back One Day:
If you ever wanna see my face again, I wanna know
this is really reminiscent of the whole "I made a vow I'd see you again" combined with the "and you told me I couldn't return" bits in IWBBOD
The Man Who Lives Forever:
Don't wanna die
But I can't live without you
The whole thing of "I'm never gonna die and I want you to come," and the "why can't our story go on forever." This is like. If The Man Who Lives Forever was actually tested???? idk it's making sense in my head but not when i write it down. something something the opposite of "forever together, forever alive"
Lullaby:
I can't sleep without you
Self explanatory sfkjashkfsd
Brother: I don't really have much. maybe the "But I'd never doubt you" line?
In the Wind:
If you tell me where to meet
Then I'll wait 'til I turn to bones
This reminds me a lot of the "I'll be waiting here till the stars fall out of the sky" line in In the Wind
no The Stranger or Setting Sun, as much as i love them, since neither are canon to the book series (as in published)
overall, Mine Forever is like.... a shortened, summarized version of Lonesome Dreams to me, which is something one would expect from a book to movie adaptation. I personally HEAVILY associate it with Gun Thunder (which isn't technically like. real? Gun Thunder's soundtrack doesn't include Mine Forever but shhhhhhhhhhh)
So this... points me in the general direction of assuming Gun Thunder is a Lonesome Dreams (SERIES) adaptation. Changing the names around n such, maybe it's not an approved adaptation kjdsfhsakfjd
It would put Gun Thunder pretty far down the timeline, or just cut off a few of the books (maybe why there's no The Ghost on the Shore connections, since it came out in '87 and the movie was made before then)
Roy Casey would've prolly be older by the time the 80s rolled around (seeing as he introduced Tubbs to Frankie and Frankie died before 1967) but like.... that hasn't stopped a bunch of other guys who perform in action movies.
anyway those are my thoughts. eventually i'll have the time to draw Casey as Huron... eventually.......
