Guncrazy (1992)
Date watched: 25 January 2020
This movie is fucking awful.
Drew's eyebrows – very, very good. Seriously, a natural brow on Drew looks amazing.
I felt dirty after watching this.
Plot:
Drew is in high school and she's pretty much the town bike. She's one of those girls – and I knew a few in high school – with low self-esteem, so even when guys are treating her badly and bullying her, as soon as they turn around and throw a few compliments her way, she gives into them. I mean, in the first ten minutes we are treated to three guys running "a train" on Drew in the town dump.
It's gross.
Then she goes home to the deadbeat she lives with, and it turns out her mother left her with this horrible man while she ran off to Toledo, and he has been having sex with Drew.
She's like 15. It is really, really awful.
There's a shot of her half-naked in bed with him, and she gets up and goes out and sleeps outside in a makeshift bed. It was so sad. My heart was breaking for this poor girl.
So her teacher sets an assignment that they need to find a penpal, and she ends up writing to this guy in prison. That guy is James Le Gros, who was in Point Break and later on in the 90s, Ally McBeal. Ngl, I always thought he was hot in Point Break but when he doesn't have long hair and isn't dressed like a surfer, he looks a bit skeevy.
vs
I can't remember what he was in jail for but he gets released early, and into Drew's custody, and before he arrives she kills the stepfather and hides his body in a freezer. Then it's a whole thing about him dealing with his parole officer, and he and Drew are "together" but they're not allowed to spend the night together and he lives with the local priest who is a nutball, and then they try to have sex but he can't get it up?
It was a whole plot point about him not being able to attain an erection while fucking his teenage girlfriend – oh wait, the priest marries them so technically she's his wife.
It all turns to shit when the boys who fucked Drew at the start of the movie turn up while they're trying to dump the mother's boyfriend's body, and in a shocking turn of events (not really), Drew and James Le Gros murder those guys and go on the run, and it ends in a bloody shoot out with Le Gros dying in a suicide by cop after pretending that he was holding Drew hostage, even though she was in on it the whole time.
I feel like that would fall apart under examination later but wtf do I know.
This movie was pretty grim and depressing and I did not enjoy it.
Keep telling myself I don’t need another gun but just look at it. 357 magnum, 3 inch barrel, stainless steel, fixed sights
