i don't think matt's bad for her, i just think that charlie and deborah have zero romantic chemistry. i've talked about this before, usually actors do chemistry tests if they're going to be in romantic - or platonic, if they're close - relationships. you can tell if they didn't because their interactions tend to be awkward onscreen unless they get real lucky. in my opinion there was no chemistry test for these two, or the producers didn't really care and went forward. which, like, is good, because if we’re being real they probably would have fired deborah, and it sucks to have getting a role come down to that but it does. and it’s fine! it’s totally fine not to have romantic chemistry with your male costar! frankly, it would be weird that we went through this process at all if it didn’t make for just... really shitty movies if we didn’t. but at that point like. just. don’t make them a couple. marvel has lots of couples that are a thing in the comics and not a thing in the movies. just. make her a badass reporter and friend. that works.

and i’m not saying this because oooh ship war. like. no. i just don’t think the actors can pull the pairing off. and people are making this (completely wrong) double standard with frank because deborah and jon’s onscreen chemistry is just. way better. but they don’t know how to put it into words

who knows, maybe that’s the long game and that’s what the producers are after. won’t know until at least the new punisher series comes out

and honestly? the most unrealistic part of the entire defenders series was how both karen and foggy we just not at all accepting of the daredevilling. like, i get foggy based on season 2, but karen? really? really

the gag is the original post was more about having adhd while writing than anything else, it was never meant to be that deep lol, but i’ve always been adamantly against the “boring” discourse the post inadvertently started and i’ve just been thinking about creators and being a writer and fandom culture and all of that shit a lot as of late which is why i was like hey you know what, im going to take the time to expand my thoughts on this in a heartwarming and positive message for any other writers out there who might be struggling
