Sometimes, it was hard to put her thoughts into words. Madoka thought a lot about Mitakihara and had moments of guilt for being in Hive City rather than her home. It wasn’t like she could help her current state, but she couldn’t do much in terms of exiting. Despite that, there were some things about this place she appreciated. For now, all she could do was message Homura via text and meet in a quaint, peaceful location (if such a rarity would last, anyways).
She sat at a white table with her legs crossed and her fingers neatly folded in front of her as she awaited her friend. There were a lot of things she wanted to ask, but there was also some she thought was best to save for later. As Homura came into sight, Madoka quickly stood up and waved with a small smile. “Homura-chan! I’m glad you came. I’m sorry to be bothering you like this so suddenly.. I’m sure you must have been busy.”
She had remembered everything. Her true purpose, final wish, and the task in which she needed to do. She’d have to make sure to thank Sayaka and Nagisa later for assisting her so much. Madoka would always be the Law of Cycles. It was almost regrettable to think she forgot about such an important task, but it didn’t matter anymore. The memories were there in the present.
Of course, she knew right away where she was. It wasn’t exactly Hive City, nor was it Mitakihara. It was a barrier. It looked relatively realistic from where she stood, but surely that would change as she walked closer towards the heart of it all. Madoka had to fulfill the reason she was there in the first place.
“Homura-chan.. You can hear me, right? Please, don’t worry anymore. It’ll be okay—No, you’ll be okay.”
Sector oo3. Perhaps the only place Kumagawa had not left his bloody mark upon. After all, what point was there in making these people suffer? Or rather, it was seeing the state of this sector that urged him to commit these violent acts even more. Wasn’t it unfair? That the people here alone had to experience poverty, crime and death on a daily basis. Wasn’t it unfair? That all the other sectors turned a blind eye to their suffering. Wasn’t it unfair? It was, wasn’t it?
So why not hurt everyone else? Why not break their bodies, minds and spirits? That way, they could experience the same misfortune he and everyone here felt. After all, it wasn’t his fault! It was their fault for living happy and normal lives! Oh, wait. Hold on one second. It seemed as though there was someone who had s something to say.
“『Uwaaa~ If it isn’t one of those magical girls! I always wondered what your panties looked like, you know? So, what do you want? I’m on my way to sector 2 for some urgent business, you know?!』”
The ghosts lurking about did leave an ominous feeling, that much she could say with certainty. It was in times like this that made her reminisce over her friendships and life back at home. With every passing day, their names continuously crossed her mind—Madoka was worried about them. All she wanted was to know of their well-being, for they were some of her most precious people.
She didn’t even know where she was exactly in Sector 003; The atmosphere it gave off was truly unnerving. She brought her hands closer to her person, taking petite steps in search of finding something (or someone). After all, there had to be other citizens nearby. She could sense it.
With those thoughts noted, she was right. That silhouette.. It had to be her. There was no mistaking it. Even if she was wrong, Madoka was driven over where the other stood. Her walk turned into a run, letting tears fall down her cheeks as she moved. “Homura-chan..? Oh, Homura-chan..!!” She fell into an embrace, placing her hands firmly behind Homura’s back. “It’s really you..”
Hive City Enyclopedia - The people your mom warns you about..
“Good day, folks. We’re back with a new edition of the Hive City Encyclopedia. Today, we’re gonna be discussin’ some bad choices fer an ... interest. Y’know, the summer is among us and yer gonna be seein’ some nice lookin’ folk showin’ some skin. Plenty of good lookin’, handsome guys and plenty o’ smokin’ ladies out there. Problem is ... There’s somethin’ about them that doesn’t make things as fun as it should be. SO! We’re here ta educate ya ta keep from havin’ the same issues we’ve had with relationships kinda... explodin’.
Today’s episode is brought to you by...”
“Let’s see here. First it looks like we got Alex Mercer... Once was a normal fella, but he fell on some virus thing, died, and now ... From here, it looks like a very, very bad japanese hentai flick. Are those... tentacles? Er-... Well, he’s cold and rather psychotic. Don’t know if that’s the virus or just Mercer. His goals are ta create his own race o’ folk through viruses and all of that. ... Maaaan, if the Red Light District gets a hold o’ this plotline...”
“Aiyaya ~ Now here we have the white princess, Zero. Those red eyes shows the red devil within. Vicious, violent, and as bitter as an old brit, she ain’t gonna be the cuddlin’ type. Not only that, but she has a taste fer some nasty food. Yer not gonna get an average dinner with her, either. Now that I think about it, it’s better t’ call her the red princess. Yer more likely ta see her coated in blood than anythin’ else.”
“Oh my. Next it seems like we got Yasuo. A lone wanderer that has no issue in hittin’ the bottles in the slightest. Now, he ain’t a violent drunk or somethin’ like that. Hell of a tease and will have his fun for a laugh or three. He’s also loner. Betrayal and all of that kinda messed up his life. Now he’s off lookin’ fer revenge. Revenge ain’t fun at all... Kinda blows, really. Oh well, there are rumors that a mage is gonna steal his heart, anyways. Good luck t’ him.”
“...... Akemi Homura ... Hm. Well, this ain’t fun. This girl’s pretty much a lot older than she looks which isn’t hard to do with how often she resets time. She’s developed a hell of an obsession with a particular girlie, and that obsession is a lot stronger than anythin’ I’ve ever seen. Hell, it topples Aizen’s power as far as I’m concerned. Sure, she’s cute and use ta be an adorable lil’ girlie. Now, she’s a tough lil’ cookie that-- ... Well, if Madoka and Homura were exact opposites and Madoka is considered as an angel or god ... Good luck gettin’ t’ her ~... Though, ya may go t’ jail if ya try.”
“When ya travel a tunnel and see the light at the end of it.. and that light is sparkling... Just turn around. It ain’t worth it. Edward Cullen is a Disco ball--I mean Vampire. Sorry ~ Sure, he’s good lookin’. He has that deep brooding personalities that gets all the teenagers in a mess. Still, ya still gotta go through his hungry family. Then there are werewolves that can’t keep shirts on. Then there’s that Bella chick, too. No wonder why disco is dead.”
“Hm... Looks like there’s one more. Let’s see. Aaah. Our last one is a very poisonous tool. Someone that’ll smile while tearin’ yer heart from yer chest. A no heart, no soul monster that tends ta bring more harm than good no matter where he goes. A very terrible man to be around and to be acquainted with. ... Sounds like a nasty guy. I wonder...”
Her memories whirled around and flickered as she recalled all of the moments of her life in all of the past timelines. There were vivid images of the past where she felt melancholy and suffered from the loss of her friends... but there were also moments in her life where she felt pure happiness. The memory burned bright within her consciousness.
The sun was shining brightly and the light breeze made her hair sway along it. It was peaceful. As she smiled, Madoka turned to face her and she gently took her hand. She remembered her piercing amethyst eyes and elegant demeanor. She remembered her devotion.
Madoka woke up with an abrupt start, rubbing her eyes sleepily. “A dream...?” She murmured to herself quietly. It was strange. This dream contrasted the one that she usually had prior where she would see visions of Walpurgisnacht.
The magical girl turned goddess went outside to catch a breath of fresh air. Admittedly she really did miss Homura and hoped that she was doing well. Everything was so different now and she hasn’t seen most precious friend in a long time. Tears glistened and rolled down her cheeks.
