Today, the 20th anniversary of the tragic events of 9/11, we remember Father Mychal Judge. Father Judge was the beloved Chaplin of the FDNY. When the planes hit the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001, Father Mychal Judge ran into the North Tower alongside the firemen he served. When the South Tower collapsed, the force of the explosion shattered the plate glass windows in the North Tower and flung the beloved priest across the lobby. In the darkness, some firemen stumbled over a body. "It's Father Mike!" they yelled. They lifted his limp body and gently placed him in a chair. As they carried him outside, a photographer snapped an iconic picture of the developing tragedy. He was the first FDNY member killed on 9/11, in the lobby of Tower 1. A few blocks away from ground zero sits St. Paul's Chapel. This Episcopal church building provided a safe and comfortable place for rescue workers to come relax and rest during 8 weeks of the rescue and recovery. In 2008 they were replacing pews and kept a couple of the pews that were beat up and gouged by the boots and heavy equipment worn and carried by the rescue workers as they sat or layed down to rest in the pews. A memorial is set up to remember those workers. Remember to "NEVER FORGET". #HEROS #Firefighter #ems #police #september11 #firstresponder #fearless #fearnot #hero #brother #sister #guysthatshoo #girlsthatshoot #NeverForget #guywithguns #girlsthatshoot #3gun #3gunnation #pistols #rifles #shotgun #suppressor https://www.instagram.com/p/CTruU0NrDwB/?utm_medium=tumblr
