there were many things i loved about the finale of skeleton crew, but the one that's making me the most emotional the next day is the memory of the arrival of "the real good guys" aka the new republic in their x-wings. it was a triumphant moment, deeply satisfying to that kid inside of me who loved x-wings, and had hope for the future of the galaxy after endor. disney+ shows over and over tried to turn the new republic into a bureaucratic failure, so similar to the empire it replaced, unable to adequately govern the galaxy, doomed to be annihilated by the fascist first order it allowed to fester through negligence. it was a breath of fresh air and a warm reassurance that they are the good guys, always were. it's possible to have democratic government that protects the people from those who would seek to harm them. it's a hopeful message that has been missing for so long, just like the skeleton crew show itself carries the heart of star wars and the dream of freedom and adventure to a new generation. it's important to have hope that people will choose to help each other and serve the interests of peace and justice. it just really nailed the ending and i could not be happier honestly
