Oc Kiss week #4! @gwynbleiddyn's Kerros is the next victim >:) Heavily referenced is the poster for the movie Querelle
I MISSED THE FAVE OC JAM but Telhara and Thalon are both simply wonderful. Telhara, you put layers upon layers of a quiet grief and newfound purpose with softer traits interwoven with this pure grit, this ability to survive in spite of what she's been through. I admire that. And y'know, Wardens GET TO ME. And Thalon... reluctant hero, practical, a leader in all the overlooked ways, mind sharper than most of the blades in the Inquisition, but I really adore that he's a healer above all. FAVES.
Ahhh, thank you for all of these kind words, friend. Telhara is...certainly special to me, in some ways moreso than Thalon. Wardens...somehow they always find a way to inspire the best in us and break our hearts at the same time, don’t they?
Here’s a tidbit I wrote recently for Telhara, when Duncan first recruits her into the Wardens and she leaves the Circle Tower for the first time in eight years. (For those who don’t know, Telhara was a Dalish mage who was captured by templars and brought to the Circle at the age of 17.)
--
The oars skimmed in and out of the dark water with an almost hypnotic rhythm. Telhara watched the steady motion, unable, or unwilling, to look out to the shore ahead where Lake Calenhad ended and the rest of the world began. It was easier to preoccupy herself with something so mundane than to contemplate the approaching shore and what awaited her there.
Eight years. It had been eight years since she last set foot on that shore.
The ferryman, for his part, was in no hurry to reach the shore. He was evidently a man in sore want of companionship. Since meeting Telhara and Duncan on the dock outside the Circle Tower, he had scarcely stopped to draw a breath between oar strokes. He talked of the weather, of the stewed rabbit he planned to eat for dinner, of the news from the south that King Cailan had won his first victory against the darkspawn, and of how glad he was that Bann Loren had not called men to arms from the holdings in this part of his lands.
Duncan was patiently indulgent through it all, even asking the occasional question, but Telhara did not miss the way his eyes wandered over her shoulder to the shore.
Eight years.
She barely remembered that first trip across the lake. She did not remember Kester. Perhaps there had been a different ferryman then, or perhaps the presence of a wild elf bound in chains had quieted his tongue. The one thing Telhara remembered was the looming shadow of the Tower, a black spike rising from the center of the lake like a spire of the Black City itself.
Now, as Kinloch Hold shrank into the distance, its crumbling towers and ruined parapets illuminated by the setting sun, Telhara wondered that it had ever seemed so grand and impenetrable. It was not the walls that kept mages in. It was not even the templars, as Jowan had proven to them all. It was the mages who caged themselves, cowed by their own fearful certainty that to challenge the Chantry was to challenge the gods themselves.
The bottom of the boat struck gravel, rocking backward with a thud. Telhara felt her heart leap into her throat.
“Well, here you are, delivered safe across as promised,” said Kester in the same grandiose manner as the Chantry priests when they lectured the apprentices on the Chant. “This here’s the eastern shore of Lake Calenhad. If you head south a ways, you’ll strike upon the Imperial Highway. That’ll take you straight to Denerim, it will. You know, they say that in the olden days of good King Calenhad, the highway went right over the lake to the gates of the Tower itself! Of course, that was before...”
Telhara had stopped listening to him. Her hands felt numb as she gripped the side of the boat and stared down at the water lapping gently against the pilings of the wooden dock. She knew if she tried to stand her legs would turn to jelly.
“Do you need a moment?” Duncan’s voice came softly from beside her. Telhara did not answer. She did not know how to answer.
Eight years…
because it's cold and rainy and i'm a blanket burrito, i'd like to know 1 and 3 for Silver and Rexus pls and thank u 👀
1. How does your OC get the comfiest? Do they wrap themselves in a blanket? Do they build a pillow nest? Do they make a nice cup of cocoa or tea?
Silver
Silver actually feels pretty stifled by being tightly wrapped in a lot of thick fabric, so he’s much more comfortable with cool, airy, thin fabric just kind of...draped over part of him so he can feel it on his skin. My weighted blanket has a ‘cooling fabric’ side and I have no idea what kind of fabric it is, but it feels amazing and I’m always thinking he would absolutely LOVE it. All those photographs and art of men in bed with just a sheet over their bits? That’s a good idea of Comfy Silver. He’s probably most comfortable, though, in a long, hot bath or a swimming pool; of all the things he loves feeling against his skin, he loves the feeling of water the most. Usually he’s not particularly fond of being without company (skin is another thing he really likes feeling on his skin, which is as you can probably imagine helpful in his line of work), but taking a bath or going for a swim is definitely something he can enjoy enough that being alone with his thoughts isn’t so much of a concern.
Rexus
Rexus likes people to think he’s perfectly comfortable anywhere, in any situation, or that he likes it best when people fawn over him and clamor for his attention, but what he really likes is somewhere warm, with good, free drinks, free of scrutiny and expectation, taking up way more space than he should ever need. If he can just sprawl out somewhere without having to worry about someone coming looking for him to whine about why he’s not doing what he’s supposed to be doing, he’s happy.
3. What is your OC’s favourite kind of weather? Do they like watching it rain? Do they prefer a gentle sunshine? How would they spend the day with this weather?
Silver
He loves summer rains during the day, when the water brings relief from the heat instead of adding insult to cold, and he’s just as happy standing in it as he is dragging one of his couches to the walkout to the courtyard so he can sit and watch it. Clear days are nice, too, and don’t cause problems for his clothes, but he doesn’t like being so hot he gets terribly sweaty just sitting still, he doesn’t always need to wear gorgeous expensive clothes, and there are plenty of places indoors at the Oasis to relax and socialize. Clear nights are better, when smuggling operations are easier and the night market in the slums, which he’s very fond of, can be out in full force. He really enjoys being able to watch the ships leave the harbor, taking people to new and better lives elsewhere.
Rexus
Rexus actually likes baking in the heat, and he likes watching other people bake in the heat. There’s something very raw and honest about sweaty, miserable people, something very satisfying and fun to look at about people in light summer clothes to manage baking in the heat as best they can, and something very hilarious about other people’s stubbornness to keep existing as sweaty, miserable but well-clothed people for no other reason than to show off that they can. Rexus, of course, is sweaty too, and irrationally fond of black leather, but he’s not going to be miserable about it.
Got any more?
TMI Tuesday!! It's been so long, oh boy. Let's see.. how about.. for Telhara and Thalon, what song would you put as their 'battle song' - something that speaks of or reminds you of them, but specifically when they have their backs to the wall? I've a specific hankering for these vibes tonight I'm sorry
Oh man, this is a FANTASTIC question. I have such a hard time answering song-related questions cus it’s always impossible to pick just one, so here are two songs for each of them -- one with lyrics and the other instrumental.
Telhara Surana
Seven Devils (Florence + The Machine)
Where Is Your God Now? (Rok Nardin)
Thalon Lavellan
This Is War (30 Seconds to Mars)*
All or Nothing (Audiomachine)

Send me asks about my OCs for TMI Tuesday.
how about 🥀 and 🌸 for Flynn
🥀 What figure from Rook’s personal past would be added to the regret prison?
- [ ] Probably his old Keeper. Rarely had time to spare for Flynn—a little troublemaker—but he was tolerated because his father was First and his brother was Second. She’d tell him he’s nothing like his father, voice full of disappointment and blame. Most things from Flynn’s rambunctious and wild youth are left in the past by this point, but some things are constant sore spots. His rebellious phase brought a lot of trouble down on the clan and of course now that he’s older, he can see that he was wrong…so this encounter would be pretty tense tbh…
🌸 Does your Rook have any siblings or close friends they see as such? Where are they during the events of Veilguard?
- [ ] He has an older brother, Eorthan. And he’s the Inquisitor! So he’s very busy during Veilguard lol torn between both the south and Minrathous where his beautiful husband is…
ooh how about 15, 25, and 30 for your Rooks! 👀
I just did it for Lairos!
Lairos Aldwir:
15. What’s the first thing people notice when Rook enters a room?
- [ ] Not him lmao. He’s short! Nah, but hes also really awkward so they def notice when he comes in because he’s usually interrupting something. So the first thing they notice is…him. And how they should’ve expected it, but cmon man.
25. How does Rook like to spend their free time?
- [ ] Lairos likes hanging out with people! Doing things! Whatever they enjoy doing! He’s kind of a nuisance sometimes because he’s always around and sometimes people want space, but he just likes being around his friends… When alone, he likes to meditate. He’s not very good at it, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ he still likes doing it.
30. What is Rook’s class? Did they choose it?
- [ ] He’s a mage, so he didn’t choose it. But he wouldn’t trade it for anything. He loves magic, and he’s lived both in the city and amongst the Dalish, and he’s fascinated by how differently each group thinks about magic.
Siggri!! i would like to know 8, 17, 18, and also 7 pls
7. What time of day are they associated with?
Bright morning. Either full sun after a snow, when the white is sparkling and immaculate and the air has just a hint of sting when you breathe it in -- or the first real morning of spring, when the sun is finally warming you again and the trees' leaves are budding out. You can see why they're not super compatible with Auril's whole "ETERNAL NIGHT ETERNAL WINTER" schtick.
8. Which of the seven heavenly virtues are they associated with? Do they embody that virtue or are they trying to learn it?
Hope (and, to a lesser extent, fortitude). They're striving to keep both in their heart as they face the terrifying ordeals of Auril's Dale.
17. What instrument would be used in their leitmotif?
Trombone. Low-pitched and ranging from warlike when loud to legato and mournful.
18. Which card would they be from the major arcana of tarot cards?
Judgment. I will not elaborate.
thematic character questions
ohhhh how about the boy Vili for the character ask game 👀
first impression: T A L L and snarky, oh my god i'm love him
impression now: @ ubisoft give me a long-term vili romance in the next dlc update or i RIOT
favorite moment: as mentioned here, i love the post-vili becomes a jarl moment you can have with him. that's probably my favorite moment given how soft and wistful it is, but i also really love hemming jarl's funeral. he stands up and does his duty in spite of the choice looming over him, and he isn't afraid to ask eivor to stand with him. it's such a wonderful distillation of his strength, his love for his father, and the depth of his friendship with eivor.
idea for a story: i'm cheating and linking to the eivor ask again, but listen i'm a simple woman with simple desires! i just want vili and eivor interacting like this after the main game!
unpopular opinion: i actually prefer to let vili take up the mantle of jarl; i think it's a more fitting resolution to his arc
favorite relationship: eivor/vili by a goddamn mile, clearly, but i love how gentle hemming jarl is with him, and how vili does his best to live up to his father's expectations even when they chafe
favorite headcanon: he and eivor manage some kind of long distance relationship after the main game, because you cannot tell me either of those dumbasses really meant that whole "it was a flickering flame" nonsense. also! all of eivor's animals love vili, because i said so. catch synin fucking up his hair at every opportunity, mouse napping on him because vili is the only one with an appropriately sized lap, and nali shedding all over his cloaks. even dandy pops in to visit and beg for treats when vili is around.
send me a character and i’ll tell you what i think of them!
