EndoMarch: Endometriosis Round-up
March is Endometriosis Awareness Month. Women around the world suffer from what can be a severely painful condition. Endometriosis affects an estimated 10 percent of women worldwide.
Endometriosis occurs when the endometrial (lining of the uterus) cells exists outside of the uterus. These cells behave the same way the cells inside of the uterus behave. Each month they thicken and begin to bleed. Without a direct path to leave the body, lesions can form, and cause debilitating pain.
At The Center for Innovative GYN Care, we have partnered with several groups to encourage women to share their stories, and the facts about their experience. When women share information, they can help others seek treatment. There currently is no cure for endometriosis, but there are ways to treat the condition to alleviate pain. Over the past month, we have been sharing information about endometriosis, the benefits to getting diagnosed early and treatment options.
This month culminates this weekend with the Worldwide EndoMarch, and event to promote awareness and research for endometriosis. We stand with all women suffering from this condition. Please read through the information on our blog, and on our website and always seek a first or second consultation with a GYN specialist to diagnose and treat your gynecological condition.
