After I uploaded this on my devaintart, I dont know of I wanted to show you guys this art, Is it good or meh and that background tho cringe. Decent I guess. I just really love this idea and AU is so amazing along with character designs.
I hope you will have a great day! And thank you for all your hardwork
That looks so good!! Im trying to learn backgrounds as well, have any tips?
Thank you so much!! ;w;
As for tips, I’m still figuring out how to paint/draw them so take that in mind but regardless of that, this is what I do:
(Okay, I thought that I would write a bit but it turned out into a wall of text. Sorry)
- Look/search for references! Make a collage of them, group them together in a file or something as long as you can look back at them. (Preferably, have them at your side so you can kind of compare it to your drawing).
It’s okay to have them, they’ll give you a sense of how color, layout, light, and how many other things work. And yes, you can copy the reference for practice and see for yourself how is it that something works. Nobody is prohibited from copying something to learn how it works, so don’t be afraid to do it. (Bear in mind that it’s for learning purposes, do not post any copied/traced reference used.)
- Try drawing/painting backgrounds even if they don’t turn out as expected. Yeah, I know. When you start drawing backgrounds, you’ll probably look at them and say “I don’t like this/ it doesn’t look like...” (I still do this lol) It’s okay! Practice makes perfect if not, it still makes you better! So try drawing something simple first. Draw anything that catches your eye. Make yourself comfortable with drawing things out of your comfort zone. Experiment different ways to approach drawing backgrounds! Idk, blocking simple figures and then putting detail, sketch some reference of how you want it to look, make blobs, etc.
If you don’t try, you won’t learn. It’s that simple! :D
- Take a break. Like seriously, I’m not joking. When you work on something for a really long time, you won’t even notice stupid mistakes and you’ll probably be tired of looking at whatever you’ve drawn. So take a break and don’t look at your drawing for a while. When you come back to it later, you’ll either look at it and see that it looks good! or maybe you don’t like it but you’ll see what you don’t like. That means that you’ve found the thing/mistake that bothers you and that’s what you should take into account. You can improve it (or maybe redraw everything again//slapped). Sometimes, starting from zero again is better. Just take your time and don’t rush.
- Do what you can and don’t expect yourself to be good at it from the start.
- Also, tutorials are good and you should look at them! Try following them and sometimes you can deviate from them and use your own way of doing it. (If you’re wondering, yes I do look at tutorials and pictures cuz I don’t know everything ok)
Hey when you posted that Stop making 'Nico is thrash' joke, preach, I agree I relate to everyone in muse, but MOSTLY to Nico, she is just a girl who likes to make people smile, she may arrogant, but she is so orginal and realisitc so thanks 😀
No problem!! I’m just sick of all of the ‘Nico is trash’ jokes, and I want people to understand that she’s so much more than slight arrogance!!
