Abdullah I of Jordan with his Habbani Jewish bodyguards, brothers Sayeed, Salaah, and Saadia Sofer; 1922. The Habbani Jewish community of Yemen were well-known across the Middle East and North Africa as strong warriors. In the late 17th century, a bad drought struck Habban in Yemen and many Habbani traveled outside of Yemen to become bodyguards.
