My lovely Tumblrless friend prompted: Bobbi is undercover somewhere Skye works (rising tide maybe?) and Skye finds out but doesnt tell anyone, just tries mess with Bobbi for a while ;p and of course it ends with a kiss!
_____
Skye isn’t snooping around. Absolutely not. She would never do such a thing. It’s just that she’s doing… research… inside her colleague’s computer. That was in her job description. She was just working to find out the truth. Or that was what Skye kept telling herself to make her feel better.
In all honesty, Skye likes Bobbi… a lot, but she can’t shake the feeling that she isn’t being entirely honest with her. Bobbi had been giving her strange excuses as to why she was over at other departments like Finance, Security and Operations, while she clearly was part of Research, like her. She had no business there, much like Skye had no business inside her computer but that was besides the point.
“So… Tell me your secrets,” Skye mumbles. Her fingers fly over the keys, and although Bobbi has managed to protect her computer pretty well, Skye finds an entrance soon enough. Files pop open when she searches and information floods her screen. SHIELD files. Skye snorts. Of course. She quickly jams a USB stick into the port and downloads the entire thing. She knew something had been going on.
“Found what you’ve been looking for?” someone behind her asks, but Skye doesn’t startle. Bobbi is resting her shoulder against the doorway, her arms crossed over her chest, an amused look on her face. Only God knows how long she had been standing there and what she’d seen over Skye’s shoulder, but she can’t really be bothered about that. It’s too late anyway; if Bobbi caught her red-handed she might as well try to babble herself out of it. Skye had been getting better at lying after all.
“Security update. We had a breach earlier, but you should be up to date now!” Skye quips and rises from Bobbi’s chair, who simply raises an eyebrow at her.
“I know that you’re one of the most talented hackers inside The Rising Tide, Skye. And what you were doing there is definitely not a security update.”
Skye swallows and tucks her hair behind her ear. Definitely caught. But what she figured out might weigh more than snooping around, so Skye just smirks.
“And what you’re doing here is definitely no research, Dr. Morse. Or should I give Director Fury a call myself and ask why there’s a SHIELD agent inside our HQ?” Skye says and cocks her head. Bobbi doesn’t answer, a brief flash of fear crossing her face. “Thought so.”
Bobbi gently grabs her elbow when she wants to brush past and Skye practically twirls against her. She holds her breath for a second. Why did she have to be so tall. Skye has a hard time not being intimidated by Bobbi when she acts all tough like that. Or to be distracted by how good she smells. Or how soft her skin looks.
“Skye.” Her voice is soft, her eyes friendly and Skye has a hard time keeping her ground. Her heart skips a beat, but she clears her throat and steps out of Bobbi’s hypnotizing space.
“You better get me a cappuccino tomorrow, or who knows what will accidentally slip out,” Skye teases, but Bobbi simply rolls her eyes.
“Scoot. And stop nosing around.”
“Then stop lying to me about things,” Skye retorts and grins, “I’ll see you tomorrow. One sugar please!”
________
“Skye!” The brass voice booms through the open door of her office and she looks up quite startled. “You told our boss about what you found?!”
Bobbi storms in with a printed e-mail in her hand and smacks it down on her desk. It’s the e-mail she sent that morning, pretending to be their boss.
“Dear Dr. Morse, it has come to our attention that you’ve been partaking in extra curricular activities. I’d like to see you in my office at three. So, what are your activities, Bobbi? Swimming? Cooking? Oh no, I know, being a spy,” Skye says with a mischievous grin.
“You forged it, didn’t you.”
“Maybe.”
“I cannot believe you,” Bobbi grunts and drops down in the chair across her desk.
“Did I scare you?”
“Do I look like someone that gets scared?” Bobbi deadpans and arches a brow. Skye chuckles. “Fair enough.”
They say nothing for a while. Bobbi just reads through the forged email again with pursed lips while Skye does paperwork.
“Tell me why, though, Bobbi? Why are you here?”
“You actually have to ask me that while you’ve already hacked into my computer and SHIELD?” Bobbi snorts, and Skye grins.
“I was just trying to make conversation, but never mind. What are your plans for the weekend?”
“I’m grabbing some drinks with Trip and Hunter I think,” Bobbi says with a smile and rises from her seat, “you should come.”
“I’ll think about it,” Skye says. Bobbi nods and heads for the door.
“Oh and Bobbi?” Skye calls after her. She spins around.
“Yeah?”
“I won’t tell anyone.”
A little tension slips from Bobbi’s shoulders when she smiles and mouths a sincere thank you.
________
Five shots and three beers into the night Skye can barely remember her name. Trip and Hunter had ditched them for other friends a while ago and left Skye and Bobbi alone in their booth on the side of the dance floor.
The music echoes in Skye’s chest, the lights illuminate their dark, secluded space every so often and she’s sure Bobbi has been hitting on her for the past twenty minutes.
“How are you not drunk right now,” Skye says, slurring slightly and Bobbi laughs.
“I’m just better at hiding it,” she answers and trails her fingers over Skye’s forearm, “thank you for keeping my secret.”
“Thank you for bringing me here. I needed a night off the job,” Skye says with a light smile. Goosebumps rise where Bobbi’s fingers just were. She swallows. Skye knows her and knows what they say about her. About her manipulative ways, her flirting to get shirt done. It was effective. Bobbi Morse was nothing short from absolutely breath taking; just thinking of what might be between them makes Skye weak at the knees.
“What is it?” Bobbi asks then and Skye nods after taking another sip from her beer that doesn’t even taste very nice anymore. “Can I ask you something?”
“Go for it.”
“I… Do you… Are you flirting with me?” Skye asks and Bobbi laughs, sparkles in her eyes and all. Her elbow rests on the back of their booth and her fingers twist a strand of Skye’s hair around her fingers, toying with it.
“Have been for the past two months but thank you for finally catching up, Rockstar.”
Skye scrunches her nose. “It’s not because I know your secret and you’re trying to get me to keep quiet, is it?”
“Not at all? Did you think that?” Bobbi’s expression drops and she sets her bottle of beer down. “I really like you.”
“It’s just Hunter with his big mouth,” Skye mumbles and leans in to brush their lips together.
“He should stop babbling,” Bobbi grunts and her breath hitches when Skye nips at her bottom lip.
