about adhd
it concerns me that people really donât know that adhd isnât a personality type or behavioral problem.
adhd isnât someone whoâs personality is driven by fun and disorder.
adhd is someone whoâs brain goes all over the place looking for dopamine, because it doesnât make or register enough of it, and when it finds a source of dopamine, it hyperfixates on it. itâs about deregulation of attention as well as emotions.
itâs not a person who canât behave. a person with adhd can look like a lot of things. misconceptions about what adhd looks like kept me from even looking for a diagnosis, and it also kept myself and others (professionals, even) from taking my suspicions seriously.
everyoneâs encouraged to reblog, but if you donât have adhd, keep your additions to the tags.
Smart people can have ADHD. And a lot of the time, they compensate for the ADHD with intelligence- until they reach the point where they just canât overcome it anymore, which is why a lot of gifted + ADHD people have good grades their whole lives and then âsuddenlyâ crash and burn. For some itâs college, for some itâs grad school, for some itâs postgrad or professional exams like the bar. Whenever the things they have to do can no longer be brute-forced at the last minute.
ADHD is often lumped in with learning disabilities but itâs really a DOING disability. We know what we should do. Probably we know six ways to do it. The trouble is actually getting our brains to activate so we CAN do it. Sometimes itâs like youâre being controlled by aliens or something because you say âI need to do Xâ and youâre going to do it and you just. Donât.

nothing can break the bond between a friend who loves spoilers and a friend who just watched an amazing show and needs to tell someone the entire plot from start to finish
weâve started feeding this tortoiseshell-point siamese recently. sheâs beautiful, aside from the fact she has disturbingly big, bulging blue eyes. weâve started calling her⊠âgoopâ
itâs goop!
GUESS WHO HAD GOOPLETS! SIX ENTIRE BABIES! mama goop held onto her gooplings for an entire week longer than she had to, so the gooplitos came out very well done and fluffy!!
nearly five years ago⊠since then, mama goop has aged significantly, and as she nears the end of her life, sheâs been given a cushy retirement alongside her beloved husband, papa pumpkin. for everyone who remembers this post, the goop troop sends their regards

Thinking about how my mom tried to âseduceâ my dad when they were in college together by sneaking oranges into his backpack, because she grew up food insecure and feeding someone/sharing food was a big deal with her upbringing with a lot of emotional meaningâ
and meanwhile my poor dad is just convinced that heâs been haunted by some citrus poltergeist because why the fuck are there always oranges in his bag he swears he did not put there???
listen this isnât rat related but Iâm going off the walls right now this is literally so fucking funny

This post is ancient and stupid but I still laugh whenever I see it
The biggest indicator that life isnât fair is remembering that all Japanese snow monkeys have to do is sit in hot springs and chill out. They donât have essays. They donât have politicians.
They have class hierarchy tho only the elite snow monkeys are allowed in the hot springs and the rest are forced to suffer the cold. Theyâre born into their class, and they die in the same class
I was wrong, the biggest indicator that life isnât fair is that even fucking monkeys have class struggle

I thought you might like these moss-filled pawprints in concrete which I saw earlier. :-)
ID: a row of medium sized pawprints, most likely a dog's, dried into the concrete of a pavement kerb. Time and rain has filled the pawprints in with green moss or lichen. The pavement is glowing in the sunlight and you can see the sitting shadow of a dog beside me.
ID: A closeup on one of the moss/lichen pawprints, almost perfectly filled in.
still fucks me up what a bad rap coyotes get in peoples eyes. like ive talked to people who see em as like. gross pests who should be culled. theyre literally just as cool as wolves just a lil smaller and less confident. i love them with all my heart to balance out all the coyote haters out there, coyotes rule theyre doing great
imagine having hatred in your heart for this beast
