Relevant to stuff ive posted previously in jokey ways but i dont think ive ever outright discussed it, i Do think it's neat that J0hn and Larry seem to have something subtly polyamorous/nonmonogamous going on in canon. Theres a number of times where Larry's interest in other people is very obviously expressed and J0hn's reaction is either nonexistant as though its an utterly ordinary thing or even egging him on and he expresses loving that aspect of him even in the face of someone else being judgemental about it. Theyre eachother's Main Stable Partner, but before larry gets sent back in cpuk20 they have a conversation where j0hn cracks a joke about hot teachers that to my memory sounded like he was signaling larry has the go ahead to do whatever with whoever while theyre apart, and in the nccts after larry's great joke about dani and crimson someone in the nelson asks him if he's kissed crimson and his first response was something to the effect of 'so what if i did?' before backtracking after the subsequent confusion to say his lips were for 'one man only.'

It kind of feels like an 'open secret' thing? lots of rumours because Larry's a coy flirt still with some amount of internalized shame in him despite his increased confidence and openness with age and maturity and then kind of clams up about it when confronted, but theyve never really come out and said it, and thats kind of reflected in the fact its never really discussed, just sort of hinted at.

upon reflection i think hackshifter is a ship that really wants to be yaoi (two blokes who do fuckall) but there's too many themes and motifs going on for them not to be yuri. and this is only exacerbated by the Situations they (mostly Larry) keep getting into

I think Larry, but not on purpose. I think it happened before they really started dating, while doing some stupid shit together, and Larry just. Blurts it out during a moment of calm. Before realizing what hes done and trying to take it back (it doesnt work, especially once J0hn says it back)

Who has the others picture as their phone background?

J0hn. This is cute before Larry goes missing, and painful afterwards <3

Who leaves notes writen in the fog on the bathroom mirror?

Neither, I think? Mostly because I think the steam wouldnt be great for J0hns circuitry, so he wouldn't be in the bathroom during/after Larry's showering. In a "no Order" AU, though, I could see Larry doing it mostly.

Who buys the other cheesy gifts?

LARRY. Every shirt or mug with a programmer pun on, hes getting for J0hn. Every cute blue object, from flowers to plushies, hes getting for J0hn.

Who initiated the first kiss?

I think I J0hn. It would be fairly early on in their relationship? Larry would still he really nervous about the whole situation, maybe he'd started rambling, and J0hn just. Leans in. Asks for a kiss. And Larry goes quiet, beet red, and just goes ".........okay."

Who kisses the other awake in the morning?

J0hn. Especially after the seven year loop, J0hn ends up waking up before Larry a lot more often. He tries to let him rest as much as he needs, but even then he cant help giving him a little peck.

Who starts tickle fights?

Uhhhh idk. Larry?

Who asks who if they can join them in the shower?

J0hn probably cannot be in water 👍 but if he could, he would invite Larry <3

Who surprises the other in the middle of the day at work with lunch?

J0hn. Mostly because Larry either forgot to bring something or brought something mostly inedible lmaooo

Who was nervous and shy on the first date?

LARRY. He did not think he was pan, and even once he came to terms with that he did not think he really had a chance with J0hn. But it turns out his gailboy charms had worked on his cool programmer friend, and the rest is history.

Who kills/takes out the spiders?

Either or. I dont think either of them are afraid of spiders lmao

Who loudly proclaims their love when they're drunk?

I dont think either of them are big drinkers, but if they were, Larry. Larry's a loud and clingy drunk I think. J0hn is either very giggly or asleep ejfksbdj
