I will say, Tintin has its flaws, but having the two eccentric old men sharing a house together and living in comfortable domestic bliss was a move.
Headcanon: The professor can hear you if you're close enough to his ears, but those are a bit sensitive... 😓
Please excuse the quality as this is a screenshot of a gif (that is not mine) but their lips definitely touch, right?
It’s always good to see the ship.
I feel like, try as he might, Calculus can’t keep up with Haddock when it comes to alcohol capacity
In the interest of reaching far and wide for evidence that Tintin’s Professor Calculus isn’t straight here’s a couple of clips from the animated show X for your scrutiny.
Now in this video, Calculus, Tintin and Haddock go to visit an old friend of Calculus’ whom he had gone to school with. The two are overjoyed to see each other and greet each other with a hearty embrace, in which their faces come quite close together. The friend, Hercule, it tall, dark haired, and broad shouldered. Much more so than the captain. This tells us two things: 1) Calculus has a type and 2) it is entirely possible that Haddock would feel threatened by this taller, smarter version of himself whom Calculus is apparently so close with.
But it is not only him who appears threatened, because upon being introduced to Haddock, Hercule shakes his hand and squeezes hard enough to make Haddock wince, as though to assert dominance. He greets Tintin normally.
Based on this information, we can assume Calculus is a raging bisexual and that Hercule was an old flame of his from school. He always had a thing for sailers and pirates, anyone of maritime influence really, and Hercule, knowing this and seeing the anchor on the captain’s sweater, assumes he’s with the captain etc someone else finish this thought
If you’re wondering about the storm of Haddock/calculus content I’m sending across your dash, I’m trying to radicalize you
