just more lazy documentation of this next step; trimmed & heat set the first layer of her fringe.

It’s all a bit wonky since all I have is my own personal straightening iron to curl hair - while it is technically a “mini” size it’s still not quite small enough to work legitimately on dolls. But you work with what ya got ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ & tbh that’s part of the fun for me.

but I wanted to dump these here before I take more with her boots on, hopefully in the snow… [provided that it actually snows again 👉🏼😎👉🏼❄️]

I thought glasses would look nice on her but it’s just too much with her massive lashes, so I made her some rings & an earring instead. Now she just needs her Koi fish friend/familiar[? Ive changed up her story over the months now so I’m still feeling it out, but I didn’t want to deviate too far from her original plan in honor of it] a book, & a bag to keep them in!

also, you can’t tell but I’m layering Pearl Ex so she has that nice pearlescent glow like series one ✨ p sure I’m just going to hang this doll head in my car or something, idk yet - I’m just having fun with it!

& I have zero patience for such things

WIP [&words] DUMP ⇩

I started this babe last year; she was supposed to be my first commission - but unfortunately some misunderstandings happened [on both ends] & so her destiny resides with me.

I modded this Clawdeen head to look more cat-like instead of her typical Wolf features. I sanded down her nose to make it flatter with more of a tip rather than rounded & button-like. Then I removed, shaped, & repositioned her ears using sandpaper, E6000, & Worbla. Definitely the part of the doll I am most proud of! This photo of her head was taken before I refreshed her faceup - originally I used Liquitex gloss which can become sticky over time, so I cleaned her up with some 50% alcohol & removed all the fuzz before reapplying Tamiya gloss ♡

The outfit was/is more of a learning experiment. The pressure of creating for someone else put a HUGE block on my ability to finish the concept originally - coupled with my determination to make everything from scratch with only beginner skills - it was daunting to say the least.

I could not for the life of me figure out how to finish the boots, or the dress, even though I had drawn a concept & had the faceup & wig totally done - no matter how much I wracked my brain, I knew I would be dissatisfied because my skills just weren’t where I wanted them to be 🙇🏻‍♀️ I ended up making myself physically sick with stress over completing her & even though we had agreed on no deadline- the anxiety ate away any of my initial creativity.

Cue 2.5 life altering events & fast forward several months, [& after a second replacement commission for the same person had gone awry 😔] I finally processed my sadness over the entire situation & decided it’s time to finish her like she deserves! And yanno, maybe try not to be so hard on myself… this doll is SUCH an important learning process in so many ways & I should honor that!

The boots are far from ‘perfect’, but they’re not the worst [esp for the first pair I’ve made from scratch]. Now I will have better ideas for the next pair.

I made the boot bases out of [several attempts of] papier-mâché before glueing the faux leather over top.

I enjoyed using the dress fiber for the details on the the boots - plus, braiding & making tiny buckles is so satisfying.

Making the heel bases from air dry clay seemed like a no-brainer once I thought of it 🥴 sanding them was actually really unnecessary since I covered them with fabric to match the dress, but oh was it pleasing!

The dress fabric was way too thick for this scale, but I made it work with glue- & there’s nothing wrong with that 👉🏼😎👉🏼 I’m not entirely sure if I even made a pattern for it when I made it months back, but somehow I assume not since I’ve only recently gotten mildly comfortable making patterns lol.

This skirt wasn’t originally intended to go over the dress, but I modified it to fit over [as well as by itself] because nothing pleases me more than versatility 🤩 & it definitely just makes the outfit look more ‘finished’… ok the matching belt & boots probably help too.

I decided to practice my newly learned blanket stitch on the entire hem of the skirt… so far I am pleased with this decision because handsewing is really therapeutic once I find my groove - & yay skill building!!

So strange how it felt like so many parts of this doll just started to make sense once I picked her up again so many months after her change of course - this project was such a source of sadness, struggle, & defeat; I really wondered if I could even work on MH repaints again at all, let alone finish this doll.

While I wasn’t expecting to learn the things I did about myself & my art through this - I am truly glad for it ♡

And now, I’m actually proud of this doll 🙆🏻‍♀️
