Been mucking around with a modern AU of the RP universe co-owned with @cathcacen. Since I love these boys so much I thought I’d actually make them the good guys in this one.

Background

Haekel

Once a biomechanical engineer freshly graduated from university, he enlisted into the army when war broke out and was trained to be a field medic. During his short service on the frontline, he witnessed an incident where biochemical weapons were used, resulting in horrific injuries and deaths of enemy personnel. After saving one of the enemy cryptographers from certain death or severe debilitation, he questioned the use of such weapons against infantry forces and the treatment of prisoners of war. Due to growing tension between his principles and the way the army operates, he defected to the Other Side after several years. He was soon sought out for his skill and creative talent in designing and customising prosthetic body parts and orthopedic implants. Currently, with his access to resources, he also dabbles in engineering tissues and bio-compatible materials. 

In reality, he is part of the Special Reconnaissance Unit of his home country, recruited at the peak of his conflict with his superiors. Planted on the Other Side to establish a base and receive spies, he is most involved in keeping medical records straight for agents who are receiving treatment abroad. 

Marclai

Once a civilian of the Other Side who worked as a programmer, he was conscripted as a cryptographer when war commenced. After a couple of years behind enemy lines, his base was ambushed and biochemical weapons were used. Most of his unit was killed at the scene or died in captivity; he was meant to be left for dead in the field, but a medic from the enemy refused to leave him. Through the medic’s efforts, he was saved, though his airways suffered lasting damage, and he was rendered mute. 

Some years later, when said medic defected, he reunited with him. Now he serves as the defector’s guard, keeping up the digital surveillance and security around his workshop, shielding him from the watchful eyes of the government, and ensuring any messages or information coming in or out are adequately encrypted and untraceable. He holds no loyalty for either country or faction, but is devoted solely to the one who once saved him.

So Em and I have been mucking around with this modern AU for our story set in the Diablo-verse, and I wanted to draw a lineup of the major characters and Sava because I just really wanted to draw her hair.

Meant to be a sketch... turned into monochrome drawings... turned into fully-rendered thing... why do I even try anymore.
