The idea for this AU is that Emerald is a normal human being who, unfortunately, has an evil twin-Beryl. They both live in a comfortable, moderately wealthy lifestyle. Idk how titles work. They probably go by "Lady" or something. Anyways sorry, Emerald, I'm grabbing the guillotine-

Beryl hires pirates to kidnap Emerald so that she can gain all of the inheritance, but also cuz she hates Emerald's guts. Beryl lowkey is already a crimelord with a lot of wealth already, ridding Emerald and their parents are just bonuses

From there, Emerald encounters a lot of interesting fellas and events before she makes her way back home. And yes, at a certain point in her adventures, she becomes a mermaid. It's not that bad actually, she learned mermaids have unique powers, and hers is flight(more like falling with style). And she can finally swim with manta rays!

That and maybe encounter good-looking pirates and merfolks
