Kaede Marikouji (High School Fleet) » March 3
High School Fleet was the second Patron pick anime of March. Want me to review an anime series or movie of your choice? Support the blog at the Heika tier on Patreon.
High School Fleet (Haifuri) is an action anime about girls on a destroyer-class ship. It's not a cute girls doing cute things.
Do you like girls? Girls with guns? Girls with tanks? Military-esque girls? Navy girls (that don’t include shipgirls like in kancolle, azur lane, or arpeggio of blue steel)? Airforce girls? Well... um... have some by checking out these shows?? (some also have their own games and manga series)
1. Upotte (Gungirls. Yes. Not girls with guns. Gungirls. They are the guns they wield)
Light hearted (?) school anime, just... with girls learning to shoot guns and doing mock battles. And uh... there are a few... “questionable” scenes. I don’t mean like H-level scenes. There’s one particularly popular one on YouTube (if it hasn’t been taken down because of its content), and you’ll know what I’m talking about if you watch the show.
2. Girls Und Panzer (GIRLS AND TANKS... wait that actually is the title, lol)
If you haven’t gotten into this franchise, well... do you wanna see little high school girls make a tank drift? It’s quite fun and thrilling, tbh. Slice of life and school-ish. They live on ships, and battle in tanks.
3. Strike Witches (Part of World Witches franchise. “Airforce girls”! I mean, they’re basically planes! Pilots! But also military and navy. Depends on the kind of witch you are)
Strike witches is already pretty well known. The wait between seasons was pretty hellish (10 years between 2nd and 3rd) but it was worth every second!!! Check it out! The fight and flight animations are so good! CGI is barely used. Or I just don’t notice. Plot-wise, it kept me fairly invested. I liked it, cried, laughed. Pretty solid for me. Read the mangas too! This one is really a war one, hehe. Not a drill.
4. Highschool Fleet (Haifuri for short. Non-shipgirl Naval girls!)
I loved this series a lot! I feel like it’s underrated. I enjoyed the characters and their experiences, the conflicts and all that. Just waiting to see the movie translated! School series again hehe, though nothing here occurs at school at all! It’s just girls learning how to navigate the seas and function as a crew in ships assigned to them! The anime follows a particular crew that were mistaken for mutiny, and they have to runaway from the school and all the other ships and organizations trying to arrest them.
