Funny note about this image; I originally was going to put the kanji for "Hey Hey Hey!" in the background, but couldn't find an example of one of those panels in japansese (rather than translated to english) to see exactly what phrase he uses. My little bit of japanese reading knowledge made me feel weirdly insistent on using the correct kanji, so in the end I opted for his Bokuto "BEAM!" instead as that word is MUCH easier to translate 😅
“Did you swap your brains with Atsumu? Obviously you like me, that's kinda how dating works,” he said, like it was the most obvious thing in the world.
Dating? Osamu's mind promptly short-circuited. “We're dating?”
or: Osamu confesses to Suna and finds out that they were already in a relationship. No, really.
Kenma had only come across a few people who’d held sizable pieces of his godly spirit. They had displayed it from a young age, and had gone down in history as great philosophers, scientists and authors.
So, he couldn’t understand how his spirit was in this boy.
This, frankly, idiotic young boy.

Practice had just finished and now you were waiting for your brother, who was taking forever in the changeroom.
To pass time, you did your favorite hobby: Poems and songwriting.
Pulling a spare piece of lined paper out of your bag, you began to scribble small drafts, lyrics and even some tiny heart doodles on the edge of the paper.
You quickly went to go use the bathroom, putting the papers down on the bench.
Just as you left, Kuroo, Yaku, Kai and Kenma all walked out of the changeroom.
“Eh? Where is she? Dude if she left without me again, I'm gonna throw her out the window.” Kuroo groaned in an annoyed tone.
“She hasn't left yet. Her bag is still here.”
Kai nodded to the bag leaning against the bench.
“Wait, what are those papers on the bench?”
Yaku walked up to the said bench, observing the paper before picking it up.
I wonder if you're lost in thought and they have to shake you out of it.
I wonder if you stare at your ceiling until even the plaster looks like a painting of me.
I wonder if you crave to be around me
I wonder if you need me desperately
And it's embarrassing but I do all of this for you
I've told every stranger I've met about you,
Showed off your photos to the room
I've gushed about the day we've met
But I've missed you like a curse
So hard I've had to make myself forget
Just because I need you
Somehow, I already do
I hope you need me too.
“Huh. Seems like a love poem.”
Yaku read it over again, trying to make sense of it.
He felt Kenma staring at him, and he turned to look at him.
Kenma jumped slightly, quickly directed his attention back to his PSP and continued playing.
“Hey! What are you doing with my poems!?”
They all went rigid.
“Oh you're here. Let's go home now.”
Kuroo said, trying to shift the topic.
“What. Are. You. Doing. With. My. Poems.”
Kuroo flinched at your demanding tone.
“W-we were just waiting for you! Ain't that right, Kenma? Yaku? Kai?”
“No. You were talking about throwing her out the window if she left without you again.”
Kenma stated matter-of-factly.
“Yeah, but Yakkun here was the one who picked up your poem. We didn't touch it.”
Kuroo grinned, shifting the blame.
“Please don't tell me you read it…”
You looked at Yaku with pleading eyes.
“Who’s this boy you've told everyone about?”
Yaku teased, indicating that he clearly read it. Your cheeks flushed a light shade of pink, looking at your feet in embarrassment. Kai chuckled to himself, and Kenma looked up from his PSP to watch you silently suffer.
“Hey wait! Why doesn't Yakkun get yelled at when he reads your poems but I do?!”
Kuroo shouted, just now realizing your reaction.
“Cause he's not my annoying older brother, dumbass.”
You muttered, eyes still glued to the floor.
“You wound me.”
Kuroo put a dramatic hand to his chest.
“And I'll do it again.”
Kuroo's eyes narrowed at you.
“You wouldn't dare.”
“Oh yes I would.”
“Well since that has been cleared up, let's go home now.”
Kai said, immediately diffusing the situation before it escalated.
“Yeah. Let’s go.”
You said, snatching the papers from Yaku’s hands.
You, Kenma, Yaku, Kai and Kuroo all began to walk to the train station, Kuroo and Kai talking about upcoming exams, Kenma playing his PSP, and Yaku watching you stare at your phone.
When you got to the train station, you bid Yaku and Kai a farewell and you split ways.
--
As soon as you got home, you bolted to your room to avoid your older brother and his observing stare.
You flopped onto your bed, your face in your pillow trying to pretend that never happened.
Yaku read your poem.
YAKU READ YOUR POEM!
He read a poem about himself!!
You squealed into the headrest, trying to contain your mixture of excitement and fear.
After a few minutes of lying there and overthinking, you got up knowing you had homework to finish. But just as you sat down on your chair, a knock at the door made you groan, standing up and stepping towards the door and swinging it open.
“It’s me, Tetsu.”
“Whaddya want.”
“Can I come in?”
You walked away from the open door, letting him inside as you sat back down in front of your desk. He stepped inside and shut the door behind him with a click.
He had changed out of his uniform into something more comfortable, sweatpants and a black t-shirt.
“So, who’s that boy that you like?”
You froze as he sat on your bed.
“I don’t have a crush.”
You tried to sound convincing, but you knew you failed.
“Uh-huh. Like I believe that.” He raised an eyebrow at you.
“Did Kenma tell you?” You managed out.
“No, that poem did.”
You finally put your pencil down, and turned to look at him.
“Who is it? I promise I won’t say anything to them.”
“You already do! You talk to him almost everyday!”
He closed his eyes, putting a finger to his chin in thought.
“Kenma?”
“If it was Kenma, how and why would he know who it is?”
He turned to you as if he’d seen a ghost.
“You have a crush on Yaku?!”
You quickly turned back to your homework, trying to ignore the blush creeping up to your cheeks, you gave him silence.
But that was the only answer Kuroo needed.
“Got it. I promise not to tell a soul.”
“Promise?”
“I swear on my heart.”

A few days had gone by since that conversation you had with your older brother, and not much had changed - except now, your brother basically tiptoed around the subject every time Yaku’s name came up.
It was midterms in a week, and on a particular Saturday, you had plans to host a study group with your friends, but something came up for all of them, so they backed out, leaving you with nothing to do but study.
So in the afternoon of the said day, you sat at your desk, humming a soft tune with your headphones on at low volume.
Your dad had left to run some errands and your grandparents left to go shopping, leaving you and Kuroo home alone.
After getting some water from downstairs, you trudged back to your room, leaving the door open.
Just then, the doorbell rang, prompting Kuroo to run downstairs and answer the door.
“Oh hey, (y/n).”
Turning to look at the open door, you were shocked to see Yaku and Kai standing there. You took your headphones off, pausing the music.
“Yaku? Kai? What are you two doing here?”
“Kuroo invited us over to study for mid-terms. Say, are you studying for it right now?”
Kai explained, glancing at the uncountable amount of papers and books on your desk and the pencil in your hand.
“Actually yeah, I am.”
“Nice.”
Yaku grinned, shooting you a thumbs up.
Kuroo then walked by your room, and before he walked back to his room, you glared at him.
“I do wonder why my brother didn't care enough to mention you guys were coming over.”
You said passive-aggressively, loud enough for Kuroo himself to hear.
They all began to laugh, and you giggled a bit too.
“Oh, let's go grab some snacks. Give us a second!”
Kuroo then proceeded to grab Kai by the arm and run downstairs.
Yaku watched them run downstairs, blushing slightly when they poked their heads out and gave him a thumbs up.
“So, can I come in?”
“Uh… Yeah sure. I don't see why not.”
He walked inside your room and sat down on your bed, looking around awkwardly.
“So… How've you been?”
He finally asked, after an antagonizing 2 minutes of silence.
“Any new poems or songs?”
“Actually, yeah! Wanna see it?”
You smiled brightly, like a kid sharing their greatest interest with someone (cause you were)
“Of course!”
You pull out a small (f/c) notebook and opened it to one of the very last pages.
I wanna be your vacuum cleaner
Breathing in your dust
I wanna be your Ford Cortina
I will never rust
If you like your coffee hot
Let me be your coffee pot
You call the shots, babe
I just wanna be yours
Secrets I have held in my heart
Are harder to hide than I thought
Maybe I just wanna be yours
I wanna be yours, I wanna be yours
Wanna be yours
Wanna be yours
Wanna be yours
Let me be your leccy meter
And I'll never run out
Let me be the portable heater
That you'll get cold without
I wanna be your setting lotion (wanna be)
Hold your hair in deep devotion (How deep?)
At least as deep as the Pacific Ocean
Now I wanna be yours
Secrets I have held in my heart
Are harder to hide than I thought
Maybe I just wanna be yours
I wanna be yours, I wanna be yours
Wanna be yours (X6)
(Wanna be yours)
I wanna be your vacuum cleaner (wanna be yours)
Breathing in your dust (wanna be yours)
I wanna be your Ford Cortina (wanna be yours)
I will never rust (wanna be yours)
I just wanna be yours (wanna be yours)
I just wanna be yours (wanna be yours)
I just wanna be yours (wanna be yours)
“Well? What do you think about it?”
“It’s amazing!”
You blush lightly at the compliment
“O-oh thanks!”
“Is there a person you’re writing this for? It just feels like there’s so much emotion in these!”
You froze, him having caught you.
“Ahah! So I was right! Who is it~? C’mon, you can tell me!” He teases. You breathe in, trying to work up the courage to confess your true feelings.
“I-it’s you…”
He sat, shell-shocked, mouth open.
“W-what?”
“I-it’s you, Yaku.”
He went silent.
“I’m sorry, I know you don’t like me back, please just leave me alon-”
A pair of lips locked onto yours in a hesitant kiss. You blinked, a mix of surprise and excitement bubbling in your chest.
He finally let go as you gasped for air, before looking at him with wide eyes.
“S-sorry! That was so out of line for me, I don't know why I did that-”
You cut him off by kissing him again, running your fingers through his sand colored locks.Yaku deepened the kiss, his hand cupping your cheek carefully.
“I told you that you could confess, not grope her!”
At the angry voice of your brother, you both jumped away from each other, eyes widened.
Standing in the doorway was a very pissed-looking Kuroo and an embarrassed looking Kai.
The captain stormed off, complaining about his friend groping his baby sister (even if you were only 2 years younger than him).
Kai nodded at you two and walked off after Kuroo to try to convince him not to murder Yaku.
