@hailhayl is indulging my whims !!
After fifteen minutes of watching her smiling to herself and attempting to pen some sort of letter, his mission to find Rebekah’s necklace was long forgotten, despite her many threats otherwise. He was too distracted, watching, trying to understand how it was the girl who once viewed herself captive to a supernatural psychopath now found enjoyment in presumably nothing. He wanted to ask who it was she wrote to, if Elijah’s kindness had won her heart as it had many before hers. Or perhaps the werewolf she’d once been betrothed to as a girl. Or... well he would not hold his breath for the last option.
It wasn’t until after that he’d realized he spoke his thoughts aloud. Idiot. Klaus thought to himself before Hayley’s sound of shock made him set on edge, preparing more for an enemy than something as benign as their baby’s kick. Before he knew it, his own hand covered her round belly and felt the jolt of movement. “So strong,” he whispered back, his eyes now caught on Hayley’s, wondering whose strength their daughter would inherit.
