hello!! (hope you're having a nice day,) i've recently fallen deeply for a sapphic nonbinary pairing, from a work with a Very Very sparse wiki. i don't think i'll actually use that as my thing, but i was curious if wiki pages would count as an art piece in some way?

Gonna say no on the wiki thing because I feel like that's a bit too abstract in terms of it being a specifically Femslash Work. But, I love the energy. Wiki editors are truly fandom MVPs.

do you think sabo and law ever mourn together over ace and lami

i think they do, yeah.

it takes time, and trust, and when it happens the first time, when law lets lami’s name spill out his lips unexpectedly, it takes both of them by surprise, but they eventually ease into it and end up sharing small tidbits of those that are some of their oldest but most treasured memories.

that is something that they have in common, isn’t it? the loss of a sibling.

both law and sabo are famous for not opening up about their feelings and swallowing down their grief like you’d do a bitter medicine, so they don’t talk much, just a handful of sentences before they choke up, but it’s refreshing, and the silence that follows is comforting.

it’s healing, in a way. someone would probably say it’s almost healthy.

in my mind, it’d be quiet moments like these that would let them thrive, making them realize that they understand each other on a deeper level.

as surprising as it may sound, i enjoy writing, especially poetry and fanfiction, and i did explore a very similar concept with sabolaw in a flashfic-turned-unfinished-one-shot. the one shot is mainly about law reflecting on his relationship with sabo, the vision he has of him and how it has changed while working with him as his ally; the whole scene plays out with them sitting together on the shores of momoiro island at night, and, even though the main focus is on their partnership from law’s point of view, part of it is dedicated to law actually voicing his worries about the heart pirates to sabo, in an attempt to highlight the trust that’s been building between them.

all of this to say, i’d imagine a possible conversation about lami and ace to go in a similar way: them alone together at night, sharing a quite moment under the stars.

it’s not for romantic purposes, by the way- i just think both law and sabo would feel safer under the disguise of the night. darkness lets you feel things more openly under the illusion that you are hidden; that would help both of them seek the comfort and understanding they need more freely.

i may end up actually writing something about this concept, so i thank you greatly for the input! these two will drive me insane someday i swear-

how did sabo and law start dating

as for the how did they start dating one...

if we are talking canon timeline, i don't think sabo and law actually, officially, started dating just yet.

i mean, following my headcanon that they met and kept on meeting after marineford, something definitely sparked between them. there is tension, there is attraction, there are feelings, even, and im not saying that nothing happened between them, either- but given that they're both emotionally unavailable i doubt they will talk about it properly. at least not now.

they would also never ask each other out in a normal way; their confession would be something extremely nonsensical to anyone else but them, like exchanging each other's hearts, or something unexpectedly very romantic like proclaming that they wouldn't survive a world where the other isn't there with them. (kinda cheesy, i know, i wasn't inspired- but you get the gist!)

i have an AU (that technically isn't an AU just yet, but i'm being realistic) in which law and bepo get rescued by the revolutionary army and work alongside them for a while. i call it "temporary revolutionary law" (very creative) and you can see some of my sabolaw art tagged with it. within that realm of possibility, i think sabo and law would get way closer way sooner, and potentially start dating (still, not openly nor officially) a bit before the final battle at laughtale.

to answer this question more accurately: sabo and law have always been interested in each other, since the first moment they've met. they work well together as allies and partners, their different personalities would make them clash at times but ultimately they complement each other in a way that's unique and comforting at the same time. their differences and similarities are what makes them great, because they just- click. they realize it in a heartbeat. admitting that, though... it's a bit harder. so they don't. they just keep orbiting around each other until they collide.

the dating and the ~officiality~ of it all will come after they regain some sense of emotional stability, which will take a while, but that's okay, they'll get there! i'm rooting for them!!

why are sabo+law+vivi romance dusk trio? (genuine question that sounds fun and interesting i am just confused)

i called them that just for funsies, 'cause they're all related to the romance da wn trio (typing it like that so it doesnt end up in their tag!) in some way- sabo and luffy being brothers, nami and vivi being in a relationship sharing a deep bond between them, and law and zoro being two fake idgafer swordsmen. also, since i ship sabolaw, zolu and namivivi it made me laugh that one trio had one couple and the half of another. as you can see, real joke-y and not serious at all :')

as time went by i leaned more into the name because vivi has been described as the "bringer of the new dawn" and with sabo being the fire of the revolution and law being destined to help turn the world upside down as a D.- plus other parallels between the six of them i'm not going to elaborate on right now (also they feel all kind of stupid and forced so idk if i'll ever elaborate on them actually)- it just. started to actually make sense? and i liked the play on the name i did so i grew fonder of it as a consequence.

i think i actually wrote a decent paragraph on why i chose this name once (with the parallels i mentioned above), but its in my first language + it was me talking about it over text to someone else so idk if anyone would actually care enough to read it :')

what made you start shipping sabolaw in the first place?

that’s a fun question!!

okay so, first of all bc context is key: i’ve always liked making ships up! i'm a big fan of rarepairs!

ships (but also platonic ships in general) are another way for me to analyze characters and their role in the story better, that’s why all of my favorite rarepairs are very deeply thought out- i spend a bunch of time trying to figure out what works with that particular character and what doesn't! i won’t like a rarepair that much if i don't spend at least 30 minutes detailing their possible dynamic in my head lol.

that’s also why i tend to like popular ships too! if an already canon dynamic speaks to me i probably won’t feel the need to make something else up- or i will anyway because i’m a multishipper and fun is fun and analyzing characters is my favorite thing to do in the whole world- and so i end up having quite the mixed bag. in the end, tastes are tastes and if a ship doesn’t spark joy in me i won’t like it full stop, no matter how much sense it makes.

having said all that, i started liking sabolaw the same way i started liking a bunch of other ships: randomly. i saw them kiiinda near to each other in a color spread and went, “hey, they could work, actually”.

it started off as a fun moment between me and my friends, joking about how we finally found someone to pair law with and it was also kind of perfect because i had just met sabo that day (i read the entirety of one piece in 28 days so i was devouring almost all of dressrosa in one sitting) and completely fell in love with him (still not in the off the rails way i love him today obviously) so me and my partner would have had yet another “their favorite character x my favorite character” ship on the list. but after the excitement and laughter died down, i truly started thinking about their possible dynamic, and. well. into the rabbit hole i fell!

the more i thought about them and their personalities, their backstories, the way they align but also the way they differ from each other, the casual nudges in the story (ivankov showing the ope ope no mi to sabo, the use of “checkered fate” to describe both of their lives) and in other official one piece material (stampede and the gakuen au mainly, the “luffy’s friend!”/“i’m not his friend!” moment in both of those, the way gakuen sabo took notes about gakuen law in order to thank him for his help, etc.)... the more i realized just how much they really, truly work well together and how a canon interaction between them would have been very possible if not expected. it wasn’t something i made up just bc all the other law ships were painfully mid to me anymore- they were a solid ship that made a whole lot of sense!

that’s how it started, and how they became one of my favorite ships ever, very shortly put. thank you for letting me ramble about it!
