I've decided that my second-favorite relationship in "Reply 1997" is between Hak Chan and Sung Jae. These two are so much fun and their interaction is so believable. I love it when they have scenes together, be it selling home-made spliced together pornography videos, or betting on if a singer will be handsome or not, or arguing over how to make a woman happy. The more they hit each other over the head with magazines, the happier I am. Eun Ji Won and Lee Shi Un have such chemistry -- I hope they're this much fun off-set.
I am such a sucker for quality bromance.
This means, however, that Mom-and-Dad's relationship has been knocked down to third. I think I love them because it's one of the rare times I see a married relationship that is like something I would actually see in the real world. And I love Mom and her constant need to feed an army.
But Kang Joon Hee will forever remain my favorite -- Joon Hee and his one-sided, unrequited love. (And what happened to the puppy? Did I miss something? Did Shi Won get rid of him already? Because I'm still clinging to the hope Joon Hee will keep the puppy. Shin PD -- I beg of you -- Joon Hee needs a puppy-Yoon-Jae. I need him to need a puppy-Yoon-Jae.)
Oh, yeah. And there's the whole Shi Won and the Yoon brothers love-line. Or love-crazy-scribble-mess.
Honestly, I appreciate the narrative this triangle is giving us, but I will be happy with either choice -- they both have their positives and negatives, and this show delights the realist in me who thinks so long as both parties are willing to work at it, either pairing could be a success.
I need to know what happened to puppy-Yoon-Jae.
