she’s never been to a graduation in korea. she herself had missed it once her father relocated to america. it was a big celebration even in korea so it wasn’t so different. although the gifts did differ. she initially found wreaths a little bit much to be getting for a graduation but a lot of kids actually received one if their families could afford it. eventually she caved. flowers and a one wreath with a banner that read ‘you worked hard haknyeon’ on its front.
sunmi watches the ceremony with a soft smile, remembering to take videos and pictures to bring back to the rest of them tomorrow so they could all watch together. by the end of it, she was sure she had about two hundred pictures of the maknae when prior to the event she had maybe one selfie of the both of them together during practise.
“ah, you did so well!” she says with a smile, opening her arms to wrap them around the young boy. “are you excited? you’re officially done with high school.” rather than overwhelm him with questions about university, she presents him with the flowers. “i also got you a wreath. could you see it from the stage?”
