Understanding the Halal Diet
hey i just read the new chapter (kinda late i know), and i loved it but you got the halal meat part wrong, you can’t make meat halal, anything that isn’t pork is halal, according to the Qur’an muslims can’t eat pork, and bismilah (which means in allah’s (god’s) name) is what you say to keep the devil from eating with you, that’s why they say it, (i’m not trying to be hateful, just trying to educate)
Based on both my research and my discussion with one of my Muslim readers, in order for the meat to be Halal it must come from an animal that is slaughtered and prepared correctly.
Such as how the animal is killed, the blood being drained from the carcass, and the use of a blessing (tasmiya or shahada?).
Is this not the case?
My fucked up sense of humor/appetite is just googling animals that are halal.
So, I've never had to come to a point where I have had to call out people and post it on to tumblr but this particular 'conversation' got to me pretty bad. The original post was about how Belgium has banned halal meat and Kosher completely. Halal meat if you didn't know already is the process in which the spinal cord of the animal is cut so that the animal doesn't go through any pain. The blood of the animal is also drained completely and it's scientifically proven that this benefits the animal and is much healthier than non-halal meat. It's clear that the banning is targeting Muslims and at once all the vegans/vegetarians started to show support for the banning. (Despite knowing that the banning is just of HALAL MEAT AND KOSHER and not non-halal meat). If you were to scroll through comments, most of the people supporting were vegans/vegetarians and they would ignore the fact that this is targeted BC of religion. The above comments were made at me and the commenter went on an unnecessary tangent talking about POC and cultural appropriation. Clearly this person has more of a problem with POC rather than the matter at hand. This post wasn't made to shame vegans/vegetarians but to actually show the hypocrisy surrounding the topic and I am beyond shocked at the responses.
Owning your sexuality isn’t shameful but it’s powerful. Being called a 'HO' is just proof that someone is intimidated by your freedom out there.
