Hal: It’s not that kind of lantern.  You can’t see the flame, but you see the effects and know that it’s there.

This was a nightmare.

Out of all the universes Barry could have possibly ended up in, he was in the one where the latter third of his life was completely a dream. Fake, and only in his head.

God, all those years of friendship and their budding relationship, down the drain. Hal didn’t even know who Barry was.

“I love you, Barry. I meant it the first time.” Hal smiled, holding both of Barry’s hands in his own like a lifeline, as if he was afraid Barry would run away again if he didn’t have him. “And I’ll mean it forever.”

Well, there it was. Hal exposing all of his emotions for Barry to see, leaving himself vulnerable, more vulnerable than he would ever be.

I love you.

Three words so simple, but so full of meaning.

Whose voice was that? Hal kept slipping in and out of consciousness, his mind unable to focus on the warm, familiar body cupping the back of his neck, their hand so soft as it ran across his face, brushing his hair out of the way. This was nice, Hal thought, a small smile forming on his face as he leaned into the touch; this was a nice way to die.

“Stay with me, Hal. Please.”
