Welcome to another episode of Halcyon Ales, your favorite beer review and Vainglory gameplay series. In this series I’ll be reviewing a beer and playing a game of Vainglory. I’m usually very flexible on my hero choice because I’m focused on giving a little bit of information about the beer but that doesn’t mean I won’t be going try-hard on the Halcyon Fold.

In this video I'll be drinking Wiseacre Brewing’s Gotta Get Up To Get Down. This is a Coffee Milk Stout coming in at 5% ABV. The coffee leads to aromas of sweet roastiness and flavors of blueberry pie. Lactose, or milk sugar, is added along with oats for a silky medium body and a lush finish. I couldn’t be more excited to finally see Wiseacre here in Chicago. This beer is likely going to be one I’ll be picking up pretty regularly, especially going into the colder months.

Overall this game just seemed to be a cluster… none of us were on the same page and it seemed like Skaarf wanted to fight in melee range. That’s sometimes the trouble with solo queue, you just end up with very un-organized teammates. At least I had a great beer to cheer me up while I was playing.

Welcome to another episode of Halcyon Ales, your favorite beer review and Vainglory gameplay series. I had a hiccup with the intro of this video and I wasn’t able to include the pour and the introduction of the Sierra Nevada Pale Ale.

Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is a 5.6 % ABV American Pale Ale and is the classic and maybe original craft beer that many beer fans started drinking. To pair with this beer I decided to go with a classic hero that I love to play; Glaive. What fun would it be just to play Glaive? So I decided to also take him into the lane.

If for some reason you’ve never had a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale then you should give it a try, you’d be surprised.

Welcome to another episode of Halcyon Ales, your favorite beer review and Vainglory gameplay series. I often try to stick to low ABV beers when focusing on game play and this beer fits that perfectly. The Upland Wheat Ale is a 4.7 % ABV Witbier from Upland Brewing Company in Bloomington, Indiana. This is a favorite and go to beer of mine. It's overall light and refreshing which makes it perfect for this series of videos. Being a favorite beer of mine, I figured I'd also play my favorite Vainglory hero, Catherine. Catherine is also a good pick into Taka and Kestrel as you can deny their ability to escape.

‪Welcome to another episode of Halcyon Ales, your favorite beer review and Vainglory gameplay series.‬ I often order a pilsner when I’m at a bar, it’s refreshing, crisp and simple. Pilsners also typically have a lower ABV, so it makes knocking back a few of them much easier.

I recently came across the Turntable Pils from Great Lakes Brewing. I’m pretty sure this is a fairly new beer from them because I haven’t seen it before. Being called Turntable Pils, it made a lot of sense to play a game with VOX. Be warned I’m not the best VOX player out there.

Welcome to another episode of Halcyon Ales, your favorite beer review and Vainglory gameplay series. Over the weekend I made a trip to the Lagunitas Brewing Company here in Chicago. Along with picking up a new hat, I grabbed a six pack of The Waldos’ Special. This is a big one! An 11.5% ABV Double IPA and it’s definitely a sipper when you’re playing a MOBA. Being a pretty big beer and this being ranked queue, I figured I’d support and go with a hero that I’m very familiar with; Catherine.

Welcome to another episode of Halcyon Ales, your favorite beer review and Vainglory gameplay series. This time I’m playing Phinn in the jungle as the support. We made some pretty bad mistakes this game and I’m pretty sure Phinn was drunk. I also show you why we really need to get an undo feature added to the store because I made a major mistake… don’t think it costs us the game but it didn’t help at all. Going along with this game, I’m drinking the BrickStone Restaurant & Brewery’s Forbidden Wheat. This is a smooth refreshing Belgian witbier with Belgian malts, white wheat & a touch of Saaz hops. They also added corriander & curaco to the whirlpool for the perfect flavor. If you’re not in Illinois it might be a little hard to pick this beer up but I’d recommended looking for a Allagash White or even a Samuel Adams Cold Snap instead. Cheers! And thanks for watching!

Welcome to another episode of Halcyon Ales, your favorite beer review and Vainglory gameplay series. This time I’m playing weapon power Joule as the jungle carry in a ranked game. As of update 1.12 it’s been pretty mixed as far as weapon Joule or crystal joule. I’ve always been a fan of weapon power Joule and just because the big red button got buffed doesn’t mean I’m ready to make the switch. When playing Joule you need to make sure you can land those Rocket Leaps, they are a key component to your kit.  

Since Joule is all about slicing through the enemies, I figured this 6.0 % ABV IPA called Sliced Nectarine IPA from Moody Tongue Brewing would make for a perfect pairing.

Welcome to another episode of Halcyon Ales, your favorite beer review and Vainglory gameplay series. This time I’m playing Fortress as the roam / support in a ranked game. Fortress has been incredibly strong this update and was a constant ban during the 2015 North American Autumn Finals. Playing Fortress is a little different than your normal support where your role is to protect your carries. With Fortress you want to be the one to dive in and start the fight early and often. Playing passively isn’t something you want to do with Fortress, work to win the game as quickly as you can because you just don’t scale as well as some of the other support heroes in the game.

Since Fortress is all about his bite I figured this 5.0 % ABV Pilsner called Tooth & Claw from Off Color Brewing would make for a perfect pairing.
