Clinging hug
Talking about himself, about his past, and more so about the nightmares that he had were something he didn’t do. The person he’d probably most talked to about anything was Doc, and maybe Addy or Warren at a close second. Even then he was pretty quiet and distant about that stuff. A world of zombies was a live in the moment kind of world, so that’s what he had done. This place was different though. There was no immediate threat waiting around every corner, and because of this there was more time for thoughts and memories to creep in. The memories of watching people he had grown to care about killed in cold blood, or torn apart by zombies, in one case even sacrificing his own life to save not just 10K, but a large portion of the United States.
He’d dreamt about the things he’d done while under Murphy’s influence, the way he had fought so hard for control, but didn’t ultimately didn’t have any. He’d dreamt about running from the ‘wolves’ and of losing 5K and Red and then of darkness. He’d woken up to just that, darkness, but he was just in his bed. His heart was beating quickly as he calmed himself, stepping out for a late night walk.
Still in a slight panic that maybe he hadn’t woken up, that he was still inside his nightmares, he threw his arms around the girl that couldn’t seem to sleep either. “Sorry,” he swallowed “I just - I needed to know this was real”
