A/N: A little drabble that I thought of while trying to avoid homework. In it Sasuke and Itachi have never met before and aren’t aware that they are related. Maybe I’ll continue it. Maybe I won’t. It’s only a half-baked idea anyway. Hope you like it!
“Come on, teme. It’s not that bad!”
Sasuke glared at him. “How is this,” he said gesturing to his now blonde head. “Not bad?”
“Okay, well,” Naruto laughed, rubbing the back of his. “I guess it is pretty bad. To be fair though we thought you were Sai!”
“How the fuck could you confuse me with Sai?”
Naruto glanced away. “You straightened your hair, remember? It wasn’t defying gravity anymore and Lee got you guys confused.” In a whisper so low Sasuke almost missed it Naruto continued. “Except I knew it was you and wanted revenge because you threw out my ramen.”
“Naruto!” He growled as he spun around to punch his friend. Unfortunately his moment of distraction caused him to run into something. He stumbled and only just managed to keep himself from falling. The widening of Naruto’s eyes let him know that he hadn’t run into a pole, door, or building like he had originally thought. In fact, the blonde seemed to have his voice taken away as he stared at whoever Sasuke had ended up running into.
“My apologies,” a deep voice said smoothly. I was not paying attention to my surroundings. Are you hurt?” That voice had Sasuke’s cheeks flushing slightly. It was sincere in its apology, while also holding true concern for Sasuke. He straightened up as he replied.
“Hn. I’m fine. I’m sorry for also not paying attention. My friend and I were debating something and I was distracted.” He bowed his head in apology before raising his eyes to look at the stranger. He felt his breath catch as he studied the man before him.
The stranger was tall. Even taller than his own six foot frame. His dark hair was held back in a low ponytail. The man’s dark eyes held flecks of crimson in them. Those eyes were studying him with amusement and interest. The man gave him a kind smile that made the lines on his face look less severe.
A soft laugh escaped the stranger. “It must be a very important debate.”
“You have no idea,” Naruto muttered.
Another laugh caused the boys to look sheepishly at the older man. “It’s always such a pleasure to see friends get along so well.”
Naruto laughed, offering the man a bright smile. “Sasuke here will deny that until his dying breath. Maybe even on his dying breath. That’s okay though. He can’t keep it a secret from me, dattebyo!”
“Shut up, Naruto. You’re too loud.” Sasuke shoved his friend a little. “I apologize again, sir.”
“Itachi. Sir always makes me feel old.” Itachi replied with a relaxed smile. “If you’ll excuse me though, I’m late for a meeting. Be careful with your debate, Sasuke-kun, Naruto-kun.”
“Goodbye, Itachi-san!” Naruto waved happily as they watched the man walk away with a level of grace that shouldn’t be humanly possible. “He looked kinda familiar, don’t you think, Sasuke-teme?”
Sasuke grunted. “Itachi, huh? Maybe we’ll see him around again.”
