bloodied & bruised: drabble
Before anything else, before the glory, before the fall, before everything Hayden was but one thing: A soldier.
He was disciplined above all else, an innovator of battle and strategic mastermind when needed. There was a not a fight he couldn't win, and if there was he hadn't met it. His was to do and die, with no questions or hesitations. So when he found himself backed into a corner with nothing he usually had to rely upon himself, but tonight he had a partner. In this deadly dance there was a white hair'd girl- no- warrior who covered his flank. Golden eyes watched over him as emerald did over her, preparing once more to enter into the fray. Once more into the maw of battle.
Blades crashed against blades, fire came forth from body. With every clash against their foe, they united in common cause. When a wayward swing almost caught her, he took the blow. He returned in with twice the fury, metal smashing flesh as a war cry escaped his mouth. His arms heavy, where limits should be met he surpassed them. As for the girl there was a frenzy in her eyes, a vicious nature like a wild animal cornered. Discipline meets ferocity. Together, it was like a hurricane hitting a tsunami. Nothing was left untouched, decimated.
Wet, warm, crimson covered each of them. Perhaps some of their own or their enemies. It did not matter, they would not stop. They could see ten, twenty, a hundred, a legion if need be and see their results repelled. Heavy arms dropped sagging at his side as he surved the scene, body raging on adrenaline prepared for more. Yet none came to them. Emerald irises peaked over to her, unsure what to say or do. Both of their voices hoarse, bodies tired. A stumble forward as body fell against each other. An arm around a shoulder to hold the other up, bloodied and bruised. A thin smile, crooked and carrying with it promises kept.
Maybe it was the adrenaline. Maybe something more. But dry lips found themselves on one another, the taste of iron in both their mouths. Nothing, quite tasted better or perfectly, then her.
