This is a unique cultural experience that empowers the local women the teach their skills for a source of income. Any volunteer would agree that their weaving skills are pretty darn impressive, always offering patience and smiles as we are learning. . We’re working through topics like reproductive health, gender identity, self-esteem, mental health, and how to navigate the health care system as a women. I’m studying gerontology and this is a class I really wanted to take. Women thriving around the world is the most important thing we can invest in. I don’t think enough men know about women’s health which is a mistake. If you are radical in your politics and want to eliminate oppression, you have to look at all the intersections. This book is accessible and heart-wrenching. I’m a queer man and maybe it’s easier for me to bridge the gap but women have also just been the key players in my life.
