How it started...
How it's going...
Hornet meets her sibling at the entrance of the black egg never expecting they both will rebuild together what was lost to their parents.
After sorting out a lot of things (wounded, survivors and structural damage) there's a new palace built in Deepnest, where Hornet with reign as queen, her sibling at her side now officially knighted, to face the future ahead.
But this isn't how it all ends...
Got commissioned by Ditlev Is Playing to draw Hollow Knight's World Map!
Alongside each Land's Seal
Wanna know the why behind this layout? check his latest video!

Sword nerd thoughts about silksong weapons
I've been playing silksong, and I couldn't help but think about the weapons used in Pharloom and Hallownest and how they're different.
See, in Hallownest, the setting of the first Hollow Knight, the weapon of choice is "Nails", which are characterized by a heavily triangular shape, with a strong widening from tip to guard, a prominent shoulder for the blade, and a straight grip that ends without a pommel.
Like so.
Nails in Hollow Knight are almost universally used for slashing attacks, with very few exceptions. Now, cultural inclinations towards cut vs thrust come and go, (historically rapiers and sabers were used in the same time period) and the design and use of the nails suggests that martial tradition in Hallownest heavily favored the cut.
In contrast, the weapons of Pharloom are "Pins", characterized by long thin blades of mostly uniform width, with no defined grip, and a ring pommel formed by bending the metal of the pin back on itself,
(Best image I could find)
Now, from a practical standpoint, that thing should be useless for cuts, despite how many enemies use them for cutting. the shape of it is clearly inclined towards the thrust, and indeed, thrusting attacks are much more common in Pharloom than they were in Hallownest. A weapon so strongly optimized for thrusting (again, despite how the enemies often use them) suggests a strong cultural bias towards it.
And this is normal, some martial traditions favor thrusting, other slashing. The stark differences between the Nails of Hallownest and the Pins of Pharloom does put Hornet's Needle in an interesting spot though.
Hornet's needle is longer and thinner than almost any nail, with only the Mantis Lords having remotely similar weapons, making it a visibly more precise and elegant weapon than the average nail in Hallownest. However, it's thicker than any pin, with the triangular blade and prominent shoulder of Hallownest's nails, making it a better slashing weapon than the pins of Pharloom. And, interestingly, it has a ring pommel, just like a pin.
This leads me to my theory. We know that Hornet was raised by Weavers, and the Weavers have a strong presence in Pharloom, possibly even being native to it. I think that Hornet's nail was made for her by a nailsmith based on a Weaver's description of a pin. It's a long, thin piercing weapon with a ring pommel, just like a pin, but with the distinct shape of Hallownest's blades. A weapon much like Hornet herself, made from Hallownest, but shaped by a different tradition.
anyway rant over
A SOMEWHAT LENGTHY, UNNECESSARY, AND TEARFUL RANT ABOUT MONEY IN SILKSONG VS HK:
look. as the knight, i never had much issue finding my way across hallownest, primarily thanks to cornifer's lovely, well priced maps. now, silksong is a game of roulette. have i been here before? do i know where i am? will i be able to find this place again? the answer: unfortunately probably yes, no, and no. shakra, babe, i wanna buy your maps so bad. i crochet, i know the worth of small businesses and i would never call you a cheat, i love your steady hand and dedication to mapping out this hellhole. however, whenever i FIND you, i am broke. and whenever i HAVE ROSARIES, i can't find you.
i have made my way into like seven or eight different areas by now and only have the map to three. and also, what happened to good old reasonable prices? the KNIGHT got to sit their ass down on any fuckass piece of metal for the low low price of free and sometimes maybe 20 geo and i WANTED to donate. i was filled with good cheer and weighed down by money and felt generous with wealth. what's a little money in the grand scheme of things.
what the FUCK are these prices in pharloom? i mean, i guess it checks out that a kingdom not actively dying of infection (afaik) and with a working economy would have inflation, but sixty to eighty rosaries PER BENCH? usually right after i slave away and kill the same dumbass flying enemy just to unlock my beloved bell beast? maybe you guys can solve your own damn citadel issue, whatever it is! nobody even uses half of these benches! do you want your savior to FAIL? am i just a TOOL to you?
hornet is on her hands and knees scrabbling around in the dirt with pointy little insect hands trying to gather up round little balls and the worst part is she can't even afford balls. can't afford balls and yet balls let her afford things. a balls paradox. and you're laughing. she's doing her best and you're laughing.
it genuinely feels like the equivalent of your boyfriend breaking up with you and he's like sorry, you're not attractive enough for me :/ so you're like whatever, you're ugly as hell and you couldn't get play anyway, you were a pity boyfriend. so you go home feeling very sorry for yourself and somehow he's fucking your identical twin. in your bed. and you kick them out and run crying home to your mom and he's fucking your mom, who looks just like you. and also you're addicted to gambling and alcohol or some shit. admittedly the metaphor got away from me there but you get it, just the worst possible scenario
but no!! you're a veteran, you're determined. you, hornet, have survived much worse. you're gonna afford what you need. you are gonna grind for rosaries. so you scour the maps you have. you backtrack. you fast travel. you find a perfect bench next to a bunch of enemies who will easily respawn. you brandish your nail and slay them without mercy. they die with a shower of glitter that falls to the ground and which can surely ONLY be rosaries. your problems: solved. upgrades? abilities? so sweet. within your grasp. you reach down to pick it up--
fuck you, the metaphorical boyfriend whispers. im fucking your dad too. get shell sharded. 🩷
all that to say, i really really love this game
