so i stand firm in my belief that movies musicals and me is one of the most underrated projects starkid has ever done. i know it was an adaptation of a stage show, but i often dream about what a season 2 could look like because i just want more esther fallick content. the concept of the season would be that halpert evans transitioned (her name is still halpert because #brand) and so now there’s a whole new realm of roles for her, and so here are some of the shows i thought of

i decided to finally post this bc the movies that i have selected keep getting turned into actual musicals so i need to make these ideas known before it’s too late

⁃ devil wears prada: so i know they made this a musical already, but imagine halpert evans as miranda priestly. that is HER role

⁃ hereditary: toni colette mom. the song would be the dinner table scene, but it’s a song. it would be insane

⁃ alien: ripley, i feel like this is just classic

⁃ hunger games: katniss, halpert evans YA novel realness

⁃ brave: merida, imagine the terrible scottish accent and terrible red wig

⁃ i tonya: okay so hear me out. halpert wants to do a historical musical, like hamilton and zuckerberg, but they decide to go for a more controversial approach. the show includes actual ice skating and halpert goes method

⁃ burn after reading: would just be a ludicrous show to make a musical out of

⁃ pulp fiction: mia wallace, halpert accepts the role without having seen the movie and doesn’t realize she is barely in the movie. she demands they write her as a bigger part and give her a power ballad, ala ballad of bruce banner

⁃ gone girl: amy dunne, it’s just a reallllly tacky adaptation.

Unpopular Opinion: I actually didn't like Movies Musicals and Me that much but I still appreciate the work they put in because the production value was soooo good and it was cool of them to take the risk and try a web series again over a musical that is all thanks for coming to my Ted Talk

I’m really interested to see how movies, musicals & me is going to pan out. After last week’s episode, we saw the rise of #paycourtney and Halpert’s reaction to it saying that he was paying Courtney in experience and asserting that Courtney was happy with the arrangements. However, a certain geration/age bracket of Starkid fans don’t just #standwithcourtney, we are Courtney.

We are the ones deciding whether we can afford to take that unpaid placement which might benefit us in the future.

We are the ones who work our hardest to have a shot at that internship with the person in our field we admire.

We are the ones who at first get praised for our talent and ‘welcomed to the team’.

We are the ones who then get talked over and manipulated into feeling like we are only there because of the generosity of our idol/mentor/example and therefore are not entitled to decent working conditions.

We are the ones who are too afraid to lose our place to express how uncomfortable we feel.

We are the product of society’s warped expectations of young professionals and often the victims of those mostly middle-aged cishet white males who have used a base of hard work and talent and a solid topping of manipulation to manoevre themselves to the top of their game.

We are Courtney.

Let the drama begin.
