"The Natural Detective: A History of Tim Drake" - A Lonely Place of Dying; Roots: We continue Marv Wolfman and George Perez' arc 'A Lonely Place of Dying' with Part Two in New Titans (Vol 1) 60 from November 1989, cover art by Perez and interior illustrations by Bob McLeod, Adrienne Roy and John Costanza. Back at Titans Tower, Starfire and Cyborg are on the lookout for Nightwing (Dick Grayson) who is apparently missing. Going to his apartment, they discover that the young man Starfire spoke to earlier about Dick's whereabouts (in Batman issue 440) knows that Nightwing and Grayson are one in the same. The issue turns to Dick walking into Haly's Circus, remembering his time there as an acrobat. Talking with Haly who wants to sell the circus after many 'accidents' have occurred and there's bad blood between many of the clown performers, he invites Grayson to watch another show under the big top. In the audience, the young man with the camera looks for Dick Grayson, knowing he must be here. He does spot him in a classic Flying Graysons leap, but only when he leaps to save a lion tamer who is being attacked by a lioness. The attack leads to the tamer's death, which makes Haly give up on the circus altogether. The young man then approaches Dick (by name) and tells him he knows why the lion tamer was attacked and names one of the performers for drugging the cat. While Dick doesn't understand how this young man deduced this plan, he confronts the performers and brings the murderer to justice. As Dick decides to become co-owner of Haly's Circus, the young man gives him an envelop of his photographs of Batman. He tells Grayson that Batman needs him, he knows he is Nightwing and that Batman hasn't been the same since Jason Todd, the previous Robin's, death. While he doesn't explain how he knows all of this information, Dick realizes from the photos that Two Face is back in town and the young detective urges them to go back to Gotham City to help the Batman. ✌🏼️💙💛📖🎨
