any ‘fans’ that dont care about how natla has disrespected aang and katara’s relationship when it is the heart of the show and how theyre basically sacrificing aang and zuko’s friendship for a love triangle that didnt even exist in the original series arent real fans

it actually annoys me so much how people talk about how katara and zuko are trauma bonded when their traumas are not comparable. katara’s trauma is the result of fire nation imperialism that zuko took part in, and he only added to her trauma by helping his sister murder her best friend. zuko actually had a lot of audacity to say that he and katara losing their mothers is something they have in common when katara’s mother was murdered by his people while ursa disappeared. and then zuko got his mother back while katara will never get kya back so they dont even have that in common anymore.

i am not minimising zuko’s trauma, as he was a victim of ozai’s abuse but he was not a victim of the fire nation like katara was; zuko was the victim of generational abuse that had more to do with the toxicity of the royal family than them being fire nation. and then people have the audacity to say zuko was a bigger victim of the fire nation than people like katara, aang and jet who were oppressed by his people. zuko was a victim of ozai’s abuse, but he was not a victim of the fire nation the way everyone in the other three nations were.

now why are people dragging aang for saying nobody can understand him when hes right. nobody in the gaang, including katara, can understand the trauma aang has from being the last of his kind. nobody can possibly understand the burden aang has as the last airbender, and the last air nomad, and thats not something that you just get over, no matter how much time passes. people will baby certain characters so much but heaven forbid aang hasnt moved on from the trauma of being a genocide survivor.

its funny to me how zks talk about z*tara like one of its biggest appeals is zuko helping katara with chores as if aang and sokka dont do that. the only person katara ever got into a fight with about not doing chores was toph while there are multiple examples throughout the show of aang and sokka doing different chores without katara ever asking them to do it. the way they headcanon katara as this slave for the gaang really is weird when they canonically divided the chores evenly

gotta love how its mostly *that* side ot the fandom who actually like natla!aang when natla!aang is actually the version of aang they think canon aang is. it just kinda solidifies the fact that they only like natla!aang because hes less of an obstacle to z*tara. and then they have the audacity to like how katara is written when natla has done katara far dirtier than the original show ever did.

havent watched natla season 2 yet and idk if i plan on doing so when from what i gather, they skip one of the best episodes in bitter work, made aang not be supportive of katara being the painted lady, had ursa say goodbye to azula and zuko when a key part of azula and zuko’s dynamic is azula thinking ursa loved him more than her, they keep trying to humanise ozai’s nasty ass, didnt have guru pathik, made the beifongs war criminals, and fucked up the fight in the crystal catacombs.

Random question, but do you think that if Zuko had been Aang's age (like 12 or 13) in the atla show, zuko would've been a lot less liked as a character and zk would have been very less popular?

oh definitely. the zks bash kataang cause aang is younger than katara and say that katara needs someone more ‘mature’ (when they really just mean older). a lot of their arguments would certainly be rendered irrelevant if zuko was around aang’s age and i do think that the ship would lose its aesthetic appeal.
