The trouble raised by the Sons of the Harpy grew with each day, but the Unsullied were bringing in the suspects for questioning as quickly as they could. Daenerys wondered yet again if following Ser Selmy’s version of Westerosi justice would work in Essos where they valued only strength. The civilized cities liked to believe themselves above the Dothraki, but they had their gladiator pits and slaves. Not many remained after she’d freed the three biggest slaving cities, but there were still some of the smaller cities that continued the practice.
Her days were spent dealing with the issues of running a city as immense as Meereen and working out new trade deals with the surrounding merchants who were used to only getting flesh trades from the pyramid city. Protests had grown louder for her to reopen the gladiator pits, though they disgusted her, Daenerys had begun to listen to arguments that came from former slaves who wanted to use the pits as a means of employment. Her Meereen advisors constantly worked at her to reopen their form of entertainment even going so far as to suggest she take a Meereen noble as her King to make herself more appealing to their traditions.
Daenerys was in her sitting room when Ser Jorah entered after knocking to let her know that she had two visitors from Westeros. While she was tired and had already dealt with four hours of audiences in the throne room, Dany poured herself a glass of wine and nodded, sitting again as the door opened and a dwarf entered followed by a tall, dark-haired man. An odd pair, to say the least. “My knight tells me you are newly arrived from Westeros,” she stated coolly, watching their reactions.
