OK the tea poll was very good and awakened my tea neuron. What is your wildest tea story ?

Mine is that about the Earl Grey I drink for work, one of the only I buy in teabag for convenience. Under a cut because I infodumped way too much.

I discovered my favourite Bergamot Earl Grey when I was in Paris, in a very small organic shop. It has the perfect flavour balance for me, and I would drink it everyday at work to get me started. Goes very well with a croissant btw. I moved away during covid, and my stock deplated quickly. I looked everywhere in my city, in at least 5 different shops but I wasn't able to find it anywhere. I even contacted the brand to know if they could deliver some to me but no success. I had to go back to Paris one last time for stuff and made a detour specifically to buy more boxes. Then one and a half years later, I was in vacation in the south of France, got into a grocery store to buy water because summer is thr worst, and randomly found the brand again !!! I bought 3 boxes and carried them with me all day under the hot sun (it was worth it).

Two weeks ago I found them in a shop in my city center that I never checked lol

The brand is Hampstead Tea if anyone is curious ! Apparently they are sold in all Monopry in France. To my defense they rebranded their packaging (old / new)

Hampstead Tea . . .

Here at The Food Sauce, we have quite a penchant for tea.

The kettle is always on.

Our electric bill is, as a direct consequence, ENORMOUS.

Make no mistake, for this is no complaint.

Far from it, in fact.

You see, when it comes to allocating resources and spending our pennies, there’s nothing that can compete with a nice cup of tea . . .

When it comes to the fabulous range from our friends at Hampstead Tea, it’s a no-brainer. 

The Hampstead Tea team sent us some samples to put to the test on our Tasting Table just the other day . . .

Impressed? 

Let’s just say that, having worn ours out, we’re going to need to invest in a new kettle.

There’s Strong English Breakfast and Pure Darjeeling, Imperial Assam and Cool Lime Green. There’s Misty Mint Green, Devine Earl Grey and lots more besides. 

Our personal favourite is Clean Green (although it’s a close call). 

Tasty, pure and clean (a little like ourselves), there’s a great deal to admire about Hampstead Tea and their philosophy . . . 

Their tale as good as their tea, the HT team are genuine people who take their responsibilities seriously. The focus is on quality. It shows.

There’s a lot about Hampstead Tea that strikes a chord here, but nothing more than a mantra that we like to think could be applied to ourselves and the work we’re doing here at Sauce HQ.

That mantra? 

That if you stick with putting more in than you take out, exceptional results will follow . . .

We’ll leave you to think about that one. We’re off to make some tea.
