On July 8th, I got a heartbreaking phone call to notify me that one of my closest friends had passed. At the beginning of the day I heard a numerous amount of stories leading to his death. However; none of them were true. I finally heard the real story and it was the most devastating thing you could possibly hear. My closest friend, a twin to his sister, a loved one to many and a proud being of the lgbtqa community was brutally beaten until his passing. Stephen was murdered and left to die in the middle of nowhere for hours. This month he should be starting the nursing program that he worked very hard to get accepted into. He was loving, outgoing, hilarious and very intelligent. There isn’t a day where I don’t think of all the memories we made. And I will never understand the amount of pain his family is going through. All we want is for his soul to be at peace and for him to get the justice he deserves.
