The very last photos I ever took of Zen.

This is Bailey from custard hamstery.  She is in a cup with a hamster hand-painted on it - perhaps it is even a portrait of Bailey herself! The image is one of several posted HERE at hamster central with the comment “Bailey has been feeling left out so we thought we'd give her a photoshot session. Here are a few of the hundreds of shots we took!  Bailey is a cinnamon satin hamster.”

This (top image) is Zen sitting in her “fun chew tea time cup” that she got as one of her Christmas presents (see middle image).  She did not like being placed into the cup to sit, because that was not a good position from which to eat the leaves and twigs inside, which she was very interested in doing.  Trying to get that top photo took a lot of effort, because she was so intent on just sitting next to the cup and sticking her head inside to nibble on the goodies (bottom image).

Fun fact - I chose the lucky four-leaf-clover-print fabric to use as a backdrop for this photoshoot before opening the “tea time cup” package.  When I DID open the package I found that the following sticker had been placed on the inside of the packaging beneath the cup:

Who new that anti-mold stickers existed?  I didn’t.  But I do now.

And as we look back on this part year of quarantine (as I started to do in my previous post), I am reminded of a very DIFFERENT type of cup that some hamsters were in last year due to the quarantine: An elimination-style championship cup for runners, held very unofficially (indeed, not even held in reality) in Italy last April, and documented by blogger Rodolfo Lollini.

Although the hamsters involved were merely representations of anonymous humans who themselves were most likely invented, they were yet hamsters, and their presence in a cup was a direct result of the Covid-Quarantine, so I am including them here on this blog as part of a memorial to those highly-uncertain times, which continue even now that a vaccine has been developed.
