Scenes: Carnival, Desert, Winter, Forest, Beach, Planets, and City
COLORS: A History
As you may have noticed in my previous post HERE each scene is primarily associated with a particular color of hamster. Although all 3 of the original colors of hamster-mouse appear in the carnival, desert, and winter scenes, the scenes end up “following” just 1 hamster as the hamsters start moving about. The Carnival Scene followed Momo, the pink hamster. The Desert Scene followed Hima, the yellow hamster. And the Winter Scene followed Taro, the grey hamster. And at first, those were the only 3 colors were offered:
Later on, Green, Blue, and Purple versions (named RURI, AOKI, and SHION, respectively) came into being:
Then the color choices numbered 6:
At some point a White version (named YOKI) was developed as well:
This brought the color choice count up to 7:
New “scenes” were developed for each of the 4 new colors, but unlike the first 3 scenes (Carnival/Desert/Winter), which included multiple colors of hamster-mice in them, and were made into videos, the new scenes (Forest/Beach/Planets/City) included only the one hamster whose color the scene was developed for, and as far as I can tell only still photos of the scenes were ever taken (no videos were made).
And finally, in the last chapter of our color history, an all-GOLD “Year of the Rat Commemorative Edition” was released:
For information about where to get this very rare golden edition, see my NEXT post!!!
PRICES!!!
NOTE: ALL PRICES LISTED ARE BASED ON SHIPPING TO THE UNITED STATES
Hamster-shaped-wireless-computer-mice can be expensive! On the juvakawaii website they cost $75 each!!!!
This, then, is your guide to the best deals on every possible color of hamster-mouse!
Grey, Pink, Blue: $6.85/$8.85
The cheapest price I found for a hamster-shaped wireless computer mouse was $8.76 with FREE SHIPPING from aliexpress HERE, with a coupon for an extra $2 off if you live in the US and have never made a purchase from aliexpress before, making the price $6.76 with FREE SHIPPING. Despite showing a yellow mouse in the product image, the only colors actually available at this price are grey, pink, and blue. UPDATE: I went back to the site to get a screenshot of the price and discovered that the price has INCREASED since 2 days ago and is now $8.85!!! (or $6.85 if you are a “US new user” and can apply the coupon) In case the price increases again, I will also provide links to sellers on aliexpress who are offering the grey, pink, and blue mice for $8.88 HERE and $8.89 HERE
Yellow: $12.99/$13.86/$14.99
If you want a yellow hamster-mouse, the cheapest place to get one may be from ebay. Currently there are several listings where you can choose the yellow mouse (although be aware - the color is listed as “Vanilla”. “Vanilla” does NOT refer to the White version of the mouse, but rather to the Yellow.) and “buy it now” for $13.86 with FREE Shipping. To find these deals, go to ebay.com and search for “Akko hamster mouse”. Many of the listings will feature a picture of the pink hamster-mouse, but if you actually click on the listing you will see that you can choose from several different colors, including “vanilla” (a.k.a yellow). If you discover that all of the ebay listings are sold out, your second best option is again from aliexpress HERE for $14.99 with FREE Shipping. If you have never bought anything from aliexpress before this would actually be a BETTER deal for you than the ebay hamster-mice because again there is a coupon for $2 off any purchase made by a “new user” from the US, making the total cost only $12.99.
Green, Purple: $14.42/$16.42
Again the best deal is from aliexpress, this time from HERE or HERE. Choose your color and then choose whether you want the item shipped from China or from the United States. If you choose “United States” the item will cost $9.26 + $7.16 Shipping = total of $16.42. (This is slightly cheaper than choosing “China” which would result in a cost of $17.03 with FREE shipping.) And as before, there is the possibility of a $2 off coupon.
White: $18.34
The best deal I have found for a white hamster-mouse comes from gearbest HERE. Choose “White” as your color option and the cost will be listed as $16.99 (or at least is will as of today 2020-04-08, while the %7 off sale is still in effect - I have no idea how long the sale might last) with a Shipping cost of $1.35 for a grand total of $18.34.
GOLD: $24.07
yoyocart HERE is the ONLY site I know of that offers the limited edition golden hamster-mouse. It offers EVERY color of hamster-mouse. When I first started creating this series of posts in my drafts folder 2 days ago the hamster-mice were listed as being on sale for $21.84. Today they are listed as being on sale for $24.07. The non-sale price is listed as $30.77, and I have no idea how long the sale will last. Shipping to the US IS FREE, though if you look at their shipping calculator tool this is a little confusing - it will say that shipping costs to the US are $20.63 but will list a discount rate of 100% (meaning you get 100% off the shipping costs, making it free), so your grand total as of today (2020-04-08) for a golden hamster-mouse would be $24.07.
