Thought dump on the S4 of the Handmaid's Tale (spoilers ahead):

- June needs therapy. How the fuck was she not provided a therapist and forced in there. She has obvious trauma, acts like someone with trauma, acts like someone who doesn't know how to deal with said trauma and only knows how to cope in unhealthy ways, and said unhealthy ways always burn people around her cause she always ends up forcing them to act in what she deems to be a "good" way to cope. And she refuses to acknowledge any of that. That scene where she describes Serena Joy is (to me) June's way to project her "dark" side onto someone that is also like her without feeling guilty.

- June raped Luke. That's it. That's the thought. It never gets addressed in the show. I doubt they'll bring it up in S5. (To go back to that scene with June describing Serena, and she says Serena rapes, and the speech happened after June raped Luke lol)

- June also cheats on Luke. With Nick. Don't matter to me that she likes Nick or feel more of herself with Nick. In Canada she made the choice to be with Luke, maybe under the disillusion that things will work themselves out? But again, she doesn't try, she doesn't open up. How are things supposed to change if you don't open up? How can you expect your relationship to be the same as pre-Gillead? Again that might have been something that could have been resolved if she had gotten a therapist.

- Also I found interesting that in the June/Luke relationship, Luke is portrayed as what is typically seen as the "woman's role". He's the one to show his emotions, he's the one who needs reassurance. And that's why I want him out of that relationship with June. Because in their current relationship, June is toxic (and I mean I guess she's leaving him per the last scene of S4?)

- I also can't forgive Nick. Sorry you were feeling lonely and joined the movement that created Gilead and I guess now you only feel compelled to do something cause you fell in love with someone who was terribly affected by all this but before her you were fine doing jack shit?

- June showing genuine love to Nichole after she finally killed Fred. Mmm uncomfortable to say the least? Also June calling her child Nichole when she named her Holly in the first place?

S5 thoughts, in which I need S5 to be the last season:

- Janine is being set up to become an Aunt.

- I'm assuming when June said I'm leaving she meant she's going back to her favorite trauma land cause she didn't get any therapy and doesn't know how to act in a "normal" society in which she doesn't have to be on survival mode at all time. Anyway I'm assuming she's gonna go grab Hannah back.

- I'm hoping for a June vs. Janine in which Janine almost kills June which prompts June to break down and finally opens to healing. (I know it sounds weird but it's either something breaks June down completely (hence someone she consider a friend/someone she has burned lashes back at her) or she dies because her rage isn't resolved and I dont want June to die. I want her to heal. I want her to live a carefree life. Happy. But I don't need a gaslight gatekeep girlboss ending which is kinda what this entire season was for June)

- Will Serena finally get to get on Mark Tuello's 🍆? Everytime they stare at each other I feel like there's insane sexual tension 😂

- Speaking of Serena, I'm not really sure how things are gonna go for her. I was hoping that she'd be the one to kill Fred. Because it felt like the show in S3 was building up to a redemption for her. But now that Fred is dead then I'm not sure what her role is going to be.

- I also want Nick to die? It can be dramatic but I don't really care for him at all. He's just June's favorite trauma-bonded relationship and that ain't it for me. He probably won't die tho.

- Ah yeah and the show needs to end with Gilead crumbling. That's it. There's no other way to end the show. Doesn't mean that people who believe in Gilead will stop thinking they are right, but the fact that their symbol is burning and crashing is enough to give hope in the future which will be needed.
