hi hi, I’m completely out of my depth and looking for help from hand weavers on here please ?

I have been blessed with the opportunity of a lifetime to have been able to purchase this well loved floor loom, a Leclerc Nilus Floor loom, with a weaving bench and this warp spinning thing too

Now comes the part where I ask for desperate advice for a beginner’s understanding of this beautiful thing. I have bought many How To Weave books but I am completely and utterly lost on how to start. How to?? Get the string on there??? I’ve never woven before, only knit and spin. Should I have maybe gotten my feet wet with a little table loom instead? yeah probably but this thing? Irresistible. It’s in my room and lives here now.

Please help! It’s so beautiful and I love touching and want so desperately to use it and make something nice even if it’s just a messy beginner table runner or something !

A traditional weaving lesson will take place on the 25th of July (8:30-13:30) and there are currently three slots available.

 We will cover the basics of Phyti (pictured) and Asproploumia weaves.

CHEAP COTTON AREA RUGS

This piece will eventually become a lampshade. It has been on the loom for quite some time as I have been busy working on other things. . At the moment there are two lovely students here, learning the basics of traditional weaving. The lessons were not advertised much this time because of the uncertainties surrounding Covid.
