Rating Movies on a 5 Star Scale.
Be sure to follow these rules when rating movies to impress your friends.
★★★★★ - 5 stars: The best movie you've ever seen. Use only once a year.
★★★★☆ - 4 stars: The cat's pajamas. You'd recommend to anyone.
★★★☆☆ - 3 stars: Mediocre, but tolerable. Watch to be polite to your friends.
★★☆☆☆ - 2 stars: Rubbish. Avoid. Unless it's so bad it's good?
★☆☆☆☆ - 1 star: The worst film you've ever seen. Use sparingly lest it lose all meaning.
☆☆☆☆☆ - 0 stars: This isn't a movie. You literally stared at a washing machine for 2 hours. Even the greatest book ever written or a meal prepared by a gourmet chef would receive 0 stars because they are not movies.
Really, most of your reviews should be 2, 3, or 4 stars. Try to avoid ever rating a movie 5 or 1 star(s) unless it really affected you. Never try to be cute and rate a movie 0 stars because calling a movie "not a real movie" is not an insult. It's just a lie that makes you look ignorant and foolish. Your friends might chuckle along with you in front of your face, but they'll be judging you harshly behind your back.
On Half Stars: Half stars are stupid. They completely defeat the point of rating on a 5 star scale. You should be using a 10 star scale if you want to be that nuanced. We all know that's what you really want to do. If you use a half star in your review, I will ignore your review and nobody will ever want to marry you.
