Im not going to make this a feminist post.
But we do bust our ass off in the kitchen. We are like normal girls but have a bad-ass personalties who love playing with fire.
But if you're anything how I was when I first started I was a nervous wreck. I was sensitive and didn't do well to criticism. I have rough anxiety and was scared.
Not for every women situation but for some this may be how you feel, and aren't sure how to handle the kitchen setting.
Dealing with your emotions:
In my advice, keep your head up, take no shit and be strong. I think the best thing to do is to stand your ground with people and let no one walk over you.
Crying in the kitchen is an absolute no. Control your emotions or consider another job. You're going to mess up, and thats okay.
Ive been screamed at, talked down on and the best reaction is to be like a sponge. Just take everything with a grain of salt.
Own up to your mistakes!!
I cannot explain how much of a pet peeve this is to many Chefs.. You messed up.. admit it don't continue make excuses like were dumb.
Best thing to do is learn from your mistakes and don't do it twice.
STAY EDUCATED
Knowledge is key in the kitchen.. seriously. read books. read blogs (Especially mine lol)
In a different blog post I will write the books I keep with me, that are extremely good.
Long story short is work hard and bust your ass.
Stay strong and don't take shit.
And make bomb ass food!
