Recently I started to think about teacups. And I'm kinda emotional about it.
In the first episode (Apéritif), Hannibal tells Will that Jack Crawford sees him as a fragile cup, meant for special guests. In Mizumono (s02e13), when Hannibal gutes Will and kills Abigail, he says that fate and circumstance has returned them to the moment the teacup shatters. From what I've noticed, people interpret Abigail as a broken teacup. And that makes sense because in Oeuf (s01e04) she is the one who breaks the teacup at Hannibal's home.
But!
In the first episode, it is Will who is compared to a teacup. The teacup broke in Hobbs's kitchen. Will, as a teacup, was intended for a special guest (murderer) - G. J. Hobbs. Killing Hobbs made him shatter; he was shaken, while he tried to save Abigail. This had an impact on his psyche (in the book, after killing Hobbs, Will was also eventually sent to a mental institution). However at the same time he has proven that he is not fragile. The teacup shattered, but it gather itself together.
In Mizumono, the circumstances from Hobbs' house were recreated. And still, in Primavera we see Will, as a teacup, gathering himself back together.
