"Will Grahamcracker...Shantay you stay."
Bryan Fuller's de-masculinization of Margot Verger is interesting to me. He's correct that there's an element of the pathetic about her, being a (potentially gender confused) steroid-abusing lesbian, but to me this is what makes her relatable and human. Not everyone who faces that level of prolonged physical and psychological abuse ends up as a glam goddess. She values the right things and cares for the ones she loves and winds up winning everything in the end. I feel people who squirm at her literary portrayal take shelter in aesthetics to hide from what's inside of them. I feel Margot's gender struggle is largely a continuation/inversion of Buffalo Bill's, who I've similarly always found more fascinating than monstrous.
If you ask me, these characters only read as transphobic when you assume they're coming from the perspective of a straight man.
Hannibal 3.06 Dolce
I read you say in your metas that Hannibal is certain that Will is his soulmate and I agree for sure but do you think Will saw Hannibal as his soulmate too?
Yes, I think Will definitely saw Hannibal as his soulmate. From the very first episode, he realized that Hannibal understands him better than others: as soon as Hannibal commented on how Will is a mongoose, not a fragile teacup, Will warmed up to him. This trend continued for the entire S1, with Will opening up more and more, tentatively hopeful that Hannibal is that one person who can see the real him and not shy away from him.
But then the betrayal came and Will got bitter and angry. Even then, he was wistful and sad over what he thought was a shattered dream of authentic connection. The moment he understood that he was wrong and that Hannibal tried to help him in his way, not toy with him, Will got back on the track and his feelings continued their growth.
Starting from the middle of S2, I'm sure Will fully understands that Hannibal is his soulmate. He relates them both to a type of a Stag Man: the script refers to Will's image of Hannibal as "Wendigo" and to Will's image of himself as "Willdigo". Same kind, same nature - they belong together. Will is aware of this. He's just not certain he's willing to accept it yet.
In S3, he had very firm knowledge that he and Hannibal are soulmates. He himself says that they are conjoined, and he now frequently sees them blurring and becoming one. But being soulmates doesn't mean having a guaranteed happy ending, and we see these struggles throughout the season.
Hopefully, after the Fall, they are over the biggest obstacles.

Will Graham is a brilliant, fresh out of the Academy FBI hostage negotiator. The young agent gets involved in the most notorious case in American history. A series of bankrobberies were the charismatic front face only known as "Hannibal" has charmed the public to be completely under their spell. This anarchist gang is only set on controlling and Will is trying to make the public see it. This turns into a popularity contest and Hannibal is not going to allow anyone to take his power from him.
Help me finish the story, I am looking for a Hannibal to finish this AU with! Message me for more details! ♡ Inspired by Rammstein's Ich will music video: https://youtu.be/EOnSh3QlpbQ

“I'd like a drawing in which there are Hannibal, Will and Mycroft Holmes. They are all three close, Will is in the middle and they hold his hand.“
