11日上午，记者跟随武汉市水务局、武汉市湖泊管理局和武汉开发区城管局的工作人员来到现场，看到后官湖水面边被大片荷塘包围，距离荷塘30米距离，大约70亩面积的区域，大部分已被高3米的黄土覆盖，不少生活垃圾和工业垃圾被黄土掩埋，或者直接裸露在外。 武汉经济开发区沌阳街洪山村工作人员李环告诉记者，该地块处于洪山小区和东合置业官湖郡中间，是洪山村集体土地，没有占用湖泊水域，不存在违法填湖。 李环介绍，此地原本是洪山村1组和2组的农田，占地大约70亩，属于洪山村集体土地，一直以来是菜地和水田。1991年洪山2组拆迁建设民营工业园和1994年东风设计院征地以后，该地块基本处于半荒置状态，成为周边居民的菜地。由于民营工业园和东风设计院的建设，导致该地块成为一块低洼地。长期是蚊蝇滋生，污水横流，臭气熏天。周边小区居民多次反映，要求改造环境。 2012年9月，经济开发区就已完成辖内所有湖泊的蓝线划定。同时，洪山村通过决议对该地块进行平整改造，外购黄土土方进行洼地平整，对地块上的垃圾进行填埋，并建立完善的雨水排放系统。 武汉经济开发区城管局水务办主任邹星告诉记者，“洼地平整将于今年11月完成，保证不超越湖泊蓝线。之后，村委会将联合开发区城管局进行绿化建设和岸线整治，还市民一片美丽后花园。”
从2012年9月经济开发区确定的辖内所有湖泊的蓝线划图中可以看出，该地块在蓝线以内。
