Han Sooyoung was the best character in Ways of Survival.
Totally OP powers, funniest quips, Yoo Joonghyuk’s best friend: maybe she was a badly written teenage SI/OC Mary Sue, but who cares? Kim Dokja had loved her the most for ten years. Too bad she wouldn’t stop dying.
Han Sooyoung was Kim Dokja’s best friend. And this was all going to be worth it.
After freaking forever (got distracted.) I am finally posting this damn fic. I have complex feelings about this one, but I think some time and distance will help with that. It is why I have been reblogging so many posts about being doomed by the narrative.
The story is a hanyookim agenda promoting rights for SI/OC Mary Sues and campaigning for awareness of the dork teenagers drawing awful fanart on the back of their math homework and uploading it to DeviantArt. This one is also uhhh my special brand of crangst.
“He didn’t just move away,” Shin Yoosung insisted, giving Han Sooyoung a defiant stare. “He vanished. One day he was there and the next he wasn’t—and nobody seems to remember that he ever existed except for me.”
Episode 4, Part 1 of Ghost Stories, The Forgotten Boy, is out now! After receiving a report of a high school student whose existence seems to have been erased from the world, Kim Dokja and Han Sooyoung team up to try and track him down. The case, however, digs up old wounds for both of them, and solving it may involve revealing the scheme Han Sooyoung has been planning for the last five months.
This is Chapter 7 of my ongoing paranormal investigations orv AU - read from the beginning here!

Your dead high school female best friend was not the hero of the story.
She was not the hero of any story. Maybe of her own, but her own story tended to cut out at about seventeen before anything remotely remarkable happened. She was probably going places in life, but only because she’d never get there. She never had a boyfriend, mostly because you had never gotten around to telling her how you felt. Maybe one day, you would always say to yourself. Tomorrow you’d tell her.
Obviously, one day tomorrow never came. The day where tomorrow never came would always come. Your dead high school female best friend would never be the hero of the story. She was always dead to begin with. At least by chapter three or episode two. Seventeen minutes into the first episode was a good average.
You had to wonder if the dead female high school best friend was ever sick of this shit.
*Gonzo voice* Han Sooyoung was dead to begin with.
Been wanting to make that joke for a while. This is the biggie and I'm very excited for it. This story is a love letter to every dead woman who haunts the narrative and has no narrative of her own. This story is also a love letter to a certain genre that my mutuals know that I enjoy highly.

“Anyway, if it doesn’t work out, there’s no harm in going back to writing,” Han Sooyoung shrugged. “But… I would need someone like you, who can see ghosts.” “I can’t see ghosts,” I replied automatically. I have no idea how many times I’ve told her this, but it never sinks in.
In my new Paranormal Investigators AU, Kim Dokja, Han Sooyoung, and Yoo Joonghyuk investigate hauntings across Seoul and confront ghosts from their own histories.
It's fun! It's dramatic! Kim Dokja finds unprecedented ways to die! This AU is an excuse for me to shake my favorite characters around in a little jar and put them in some Situations. The setting is influenced by a jumble of supernatural monster of the week type stories like Buffy, Lockwood & Co., and X-files, with worldbuilding that really amounts to "whatever I think is cool and dramatic". 12 chapters planned and in progress.
Check it out if you want! <3
