Today is a very special day because 36 years ago this man came into the world. I don't know how is it possible to feel this way about a person I haven't even met but I think that this is part of the beauty and the craziness of him. He has become so precious to me and I just want to dedicate a little part of my time to him. When I was thinking about what to write in this kind of letter, I decided to find a photo of him, stare at it and get inspired. But then, I realized that I couldn't be more inspired by him. I realized that I couldn't be more surprised by his charm because I have already stared at his face, at his eyes so many times to learn every features and recognize every traits among billions of others. Let's be honest, the first thing you see in him is his exaggerated splendor and such blue eyes. Sometimes I get really mad and I wish he had been a little uglier, because people don't see him, people don't get him. All they think about is that he is the nth good-looking American actor, remembered only for his attractive body by a bunch of little girls. The truth is that there is such a huge world behind him, behind those blue eyes. A huge, fantastique and unique world. He's an activist, a conservationist, an ecologist. He loves animals. He created a foundation to help young people by making them aware of bullying, by giving them a voice, by getting them overcome their pains through puppy therapy. He believes in a better world. He believes we can change this planet, this society and make them more sustainable and safer. He thinks that world's youth is the most undervalued, underappreciated and underused resource that we have. He thinks that young people are truly the future. He doesn't listen to them only because he has to do it. He listens because he's inspired by them, because they have the creativity and the power to improve this world. He listens because he wants to give them an amplifier so that their voices and ideas can be heard. He listens because "it's quite an incredible thing to watch them grow and change". I am the opposite. I find myself believing that nothing can or will change, that people only hurt other people. I find myself watching all the bad things in Earth and thinking that we can't do anything about them. And I hate myself for these thoughts, eventhough they are only a consequence of every bad thing that has ever happened to me in my short life. But then, I find some new photos, some new videos of this man and I start seeing the beauty hidden in every little detail. Then I find myself thrilled to create something useful for others. I find myself excited about my life and my future. This is the power of this amazing human being. He truly has the ability to walk into a room and inspire every person in it. He is pure at heart. He is amazing in every condition. But he is amazing as ever when he's in love. When he devours his own life with passion and rage, as if it could end in a flash, and actually it can. When he has this look in his eyes that makes you see everything in vivid colours. When he has the ability to get you throw yourself headlong into life. When he's a bit drunk. When he is seductive. When he knows to be sexy. When he doesn't know how to spruce. When he wears an undershirt, the thing most "tamarra" -like we call it in Italy-in the world. When he wears smoking, white shirts and hats. When he has that satisfied smirk. When he smiles and raises the corner of the lips. When he is happy. When he fulfills his dreams. When he is so serious because he has the chance to talk at Washington or in front of the President. When he plays the guitar. When he acts. When he is funny. When he is a poet. When he plays with his pets. When he is so full of joy, of life, of dreams that he seems to burn. I don't know if I can be in love with him, but I sure as hell am in love with his soul and I think it's pretty the same thing. I wish you all the best. I wish you get everything you deserve. Because you deserve everything. You has a heart of gold. Where do I even begin? Often times, I tag my reblogs saying I don't have words. And I find myself at this very same position right now. How do I begin talking about a man who is perfect in my eyes? How do I describe someone who constantly continues to amaze me? How do I articulate someone who I love beyond words? I can't even pinpoint the exact moment I fell in love with him.

But I clearly remember the day I laid my eyes on that gorgeous face with the bluest orbs I have ever seen. 9pm on a thursday, some 9 years ago, I sat cross legged with a plate of food resting in between legs in front of my television. Lost was premiering and my dad had been raving about it the whole week. In between the chaos of the plane crash one young boy was running frantically up and down the island searching for a pen to resuscitate a dying passenger. Even after a plane crash and a slight bruise on his face, he was the most beautiful creature I had ever seen. And that was the first time I felt something for Ian Somerhalder.

It has been such a beautiful journey watching Ian play Boone and then Damon Salvatore.It's been so beautiful watching how much he has grown as an actor. But what is the most beautiful thing is how that young boy grew up to be a man with the purest heart. A man who is constantly striving for change, for the betterment of society, fighting tooth and nail, doing everything he can. A man who is perfect in every sense. From the way he treats his fans to his totally down-to earth attitude, Ian Somerhalder is the most perfect man to me.

I know love is a word that is constantly thrown around. We often don't understand the depths of it. But when I say I love Ian Somerhalder, it couldn't be more true. Sometimes I feel like love is too pale of a word and it seems completely bizarre to love a man you have never even met but I love him from the pits of my heart. 

So, to the most beautiful man on the inside and outside HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I hope you can bring about the change you work for, I hope you get all the recognition for the work you do as an actor and I hope you get all the happiness and love:)
