bringing a bow and arrow to a gunfight.
pairing: harbor/sova. rating: E. chapter: 3/? words: 11,824.
Harbor figures it’s best to approach it carefully. He leans forward, just edging into Sova’s space, and brings his voice down lower, almost conspiratorially, as he says, “Forgive me for saying this, Sova, but you don’t seem the killing type. You certainly hold up to what I’ve heard about you, of course. ‘The man who never missed a shot’ is quite high, and accurate, praise from what I’ve seen, but…” Sova doesn’t look offended. If anything, he looks bemused. “But?” he prompts. And before Harbor can continue, Sova continues himself, a little warmth melting some of that coldness in his voice, “I did not earn such a title by playing darts, you know.” “Yes, yes, I know,” Harbor says on a breath of a laugh. “I only meant… Well, I don’t know you well enough yet to talk about what I expected from you, I suppose.” “I thought you were starting to piece me together? That is what you said during breakfast, anyway.” “Oh!” Harbor exclaims, his laugh louder this time. “You are sharp today, aren’t you? I’ll have to step up my game, it seems.”
we did it boys. we finally fucking did it. practically 6 (or more?) months later, i finally updated this thing. go read it here on ao3 if you wanna!
AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
edit: ok since i put this in their tags let me provide something substantial beyond just me screaming. the full card is jett, astra, skye, sova, and harbor. skye/astra/harbor are like a KNOWN friend group. sova is not part of this. and sova isn't really Close-close to jett, like, as we've been shown anyway. they're friends, they get along, but are they hanging out much outside of the protocol? i don't really think they are. so, conspiracy theory goggles on, line of copium to snort, spitballing solely for funsies and not because i think this is canon — sova is there solely because he is harbor's date. he's third-wheeling. but also on a date. somehow the date-ee is also the third-wheeler. it makes SENSE for him. thank u. 💙🩵
sorry. it came to me in a vision

One of the agents watching TV is Harbor. And the downside to it being a quieter night is that when Sova, standing in the doorway, calls for him — “Harbor? If I could speak with you for a moment? — it means that everyone is turning to look at him. Harbor’s expression is hard to read, but he grows stiffer almost immediately, gets up slowly. “Everything alright?” he asks in return. Sova nods. “It is, yes. This is a bit last-minute, but you are finding out much the same time as I am, at least. I only need to speak with you about a mission we will be going on tomorrow.” Still on the couch, Raze scoffs, looking back to the TV. “Bo-oring,” she mutters, and Killjoy laughs, smacking her on the shoulder. Harbor rolls his eyes, smiling a bit himself at that utterance, but he’s moving less stiffly now as he comes to join Sova in the doorway. “After you, my friend,” he says, gesturing for Sova to step out first.
