For those who are interested. Artists or crew members , not animators.
Animators are a specific job and a small cog in a massive machine. They are ONLY responsible for the base motion of characters and props. They don't even animate hair or clothes anymore, only the physical bodies of the characters.
I see people a lot online doing the "Thanking the studio diminishes the work of the animators" dance, but frankly attributing the work of animated films to animators is worse and completely ignores all the other crew who work in modern animation & VFX (both 3D AND 2D).
Think of an animated film like a board-game.
They didn't think up the concept, or quantify the rules, or design the board, or source the materials, or organize the labor/production, or make the pieces. They just move the pieces around.
"Oh when they say animators they mean all artists on an animated film"
Sure mate, and every single person that works in a hospital is a scrub nurse.
